Small bodied guitar recommendations?

Hello all,
I'm looking for a small bodied guitar and began looking at the
Larrivees OM size. Unfortunately, it is not readily available
for me to try out in my area and the store I had gone to had
limited supply. Soon I plan on driving 2 hours away to try out
some at another store since they have a much bigger selection.

My question is, are there other brands, models, I should check
out that you would recommend? I don't want a parlour
size cuz that's too small. The reason I want a smaller guitar
is for comfort. I need something versatile as I strum mostly but
am learning some fingerstyle. I would also like a 1 3/4 nut width.
Although I'm not a heavy strummer, I want a guitar that doesn't
fall apart when strummed more than lightly. I want this guitar to
last me a while as I don't want to keep buying guitars in the near future.
I currently have a Seagull s-6 cedar. Thanks in advance for your

you didn't mention your price range, so its hard to make recommendations on specific models. For Larrivee OMs I like the rosewood back and sides. Also you said you strum alot so try the L bodies. Really I would suggest you try everything in your price range and size requirements; and anything else, you might be suprised at what you like.

Try some Epiphone master class guitars too. I dont remember model numbers but I liked the ones I've played.

Hey Retrow:

Those I can think of in your price range would be:
Larrivee:an OM03 or OM03R
Martin: 000-15S or OM-16
Epiphone Masterbuilt OMs: EF500M or EF500R

All meet your specs.  Be carefull with Martin, if you go to their regular 000 size, the neck is 1 11/16th.  Only the 000 slot head 12fret models have 1 3/4 necks.

If you go to Dave Schmitts website http://www.guitaradoptions.com, he has started to place sound clips of his guitars so you can at least hear what they sound like as well as see the pictures.

Garrison's are nice guitars, which won't break your bank account. They are on the heavy side though so they might your back, but still they are nice guitars.

Sometimes you just get lucky!  I bought a used but wonderful OO Larrivee at Guitar Center.  They had no idea what they had.  I paid $900.  Brian Trepanier at Larrivee has just confirmed for me that it was made in 1991 and the back and sides are... can you believe this... BRAZILIAN Rosewood!

An 00 is between a parlor and an OM

OOs are generally thought to have a richer sound than a parlor.  Quite nice.

The 00 is about the same size as a classical guitar (or Seagull/Simon & Patrick Folk guitars).  It's a really good size for a lot of women.  I like their characteristic sound (hey, Keith Richards plays a Collings 00 and he's got incredible taste in guitars) but they're a bit small for my long arms.

The 000/0M size is not that much narrower than a dread like your S6, though they're usually, but not always, shallower than a dread.

Try them and see where your picking hand falls (I'm assuming you're a pick player though).  If you're strumming too near the fretboard (like me with 00s or parlors) I find it'll sound a bit dead.  If it's too wide or thick, your shoulder will be raised too much and you won't be able to shift your picking position.  That's pretty important for tone.
