Hello..New member here! Recently purchased a Larivee parlor P-03-RW with a Rosewood top. Lots of information about the P-03-RW but cannot find information about a rosewood top. Most tops seem to be spruce. It's a great little guitar and would appreciate any additional information. Many thanks!

Welcome to the forum! And congrats on a cool guitar!

I can't help much with "why the rosewood tops." I do know that when Larrivee gets in a nice stock of wood, they build limited runs with it. Maybe that particular stock of rosewood made for good tops (probably less dense than your average set)?

Another forum member just ordered a 00 all-rosewood, so perhaps they can provide a little info.

Care to describe the tone of your parlor? I'd guess it's very "piano-like" with all that rosewood!

Wow, I was aware that Larrivee had produced a limited number of all -Rosewood acoustics, but I didn't know they'd made one in a Parlour size, pray tell us how it sounds please, I for one would be mightily interested to hear one played, I've got a 12 year old Sitka over Walnut Larrivee Parlour, which I love, and would maybe try and source one of these little Rosewood beauties.

Oh, and welcome to the Forum MJD..

I have a lot of love for my parlor P-03.  I can't imagine how fantastic your rosewood topped one sounds like!  Enjoy it forever!

In all my years of playing guitar, I'm not sure I ever recall seeing one with a RW top.

It's an uncommon wood choice but that doesn't mean it's a bad one by any means. Larrivee is great at offering an extremely wife variety of wood combos. Some all spruce guitars were even made for the Japanese market.

When thinking of a rosewood top, it helps to think of the way koa, mahogany, and sometimes walnut are commonly used as smaller body guitar tops. While I haven't played a rosewood top, my favorite smaller guitars are not spruce. They respond and resonate a little different, in a way I like. I hope to try a rosewood model.

I had no idea. Love that they're willing to mix things up.

I've never played an all-spruce guitar, but I hear they are super light and super responsive, which would make sense given the reputation of spruce.

I wonder if this rosewood top thing started with Tuneup Guitars. They have made several videos ove3r the last couple of years of Larrivee's with rosewood tops like this one.

I today received my 00-40R with rosewood top from Tune Up Guitars.
Beautiful sound! Congatulations on yours!  :gotpics:
