Larrivee prices on Brazilan and flying eagles gone crazy ?

Wow, the asking prices on Brazilian Larrivee's are going through the roof!  Are these prices even justified?  Need help and opinions from the experts.

This one has some serious cracks, unfortunately not well cared for.

I played that Eagle recently. Not worth the price, no. I'll leave it at that...

Insanity.

I'm of the opinion that very few guitars should command that kind of price, BR or otherwise. So my response above isn't just a shot at Larrivee, but also many small builders. As an example, I played a $50K Olson cedar/BR SJ earlier this year. It was pretty fantastic, but even it shouldn't command $25K, IMO. I base that opinion on the fact that a player can buy other guitars, that perform and sound in a similar vein, at a fraction of the price. From my perspective, it's all about what the guitar does, not what it is. Of course, this is all highly subjective, so keep that in mind. It's just my perspective on this topic.

However, the market will sort it out. Maybe I'm wrong.

Is there a big change in tone between BR and EIR? And what about MR. I did hear a real sound difference between Honduran rosewood and EIR. Do you think at some point it is the player and his technique that might be a factor in the sound? When I listen to a fine player, I've never thought what guitar he is playing. Or that guitar sure makes him sound good LOL.

They can price them as high as they want, but good luck finding a buyer.

There is a store near me that has an LV-11 priced around $7,000 with Madagascar rosewood that sounds incredible, and it has the intricate vines on the fretboard

There is a ( circa 90's ) Brazilian Rosewood Larrivee J72 Jumbo for sale on Reverb, it's been there since Covid started,the shop ( UK based) has it up as a consignment sale for £5,890, if you see the header photo of the guitar front,it features this utterly ridiculous J-200 pick guard that looks so out of place on the guitar,the guitar has Abalone trim up the wazoo,very nice too, as is the BR used on the back and front of the guitar,but not at that price,fact is, Larrivee don't seem to sell very well in the UK,they are a relatively undiscovered guitar as yet- but that pick guard...
