Golden days are here again (Autumn)

Autumn (I still call it that) is my favorite time of year. 

I've been noticing the golden light coming in at the close of day, which means it is near.  The temp will start to taper off, and the leaves will start to change.  It's the best time to get outside. 

Campfires, jackets, outdoor festivals, long drives in the country, etc.  Dark beer, smoking pipes (not tobacco! -- that's dangerous! yep...), homemade soups and stews.  Acoustic things, Celtic things, ghost stories, etc. are all part of this time of year for me.  Pumpkins, hayrides, apples off the tree... all good stuff that I look forward to all year.

Mine, too, for all the reasons you state. I think it might be an emotional remnant from starting a new school semester so many years in a row. At 44, I still get that tingle up my spine when the first day of cooler weather blows in. My favorite season...which in my neck of the woods is getting later and later in the year.

Ray Bradbury, the the sci-fi writer, once wrote a kind of kids/teenager book called The Halloween Tree. It's a great book that explains the origins of Halloween. I read it when I was about 11 and it still brings back warm kid's memories of Halloween and fall.

Today's high where I live is gonna be in the low 70's. My recent power/AC bill was one of the highest in 20 years. Fall started yesterday and I'm all for it. The only downside is my ragweed allergy, but I got that covered.

Same here. I'm roughly four hours straight north of you. The humidity was so high this summer.

Yes, the summer was brutal.  I had an electric bill of over $700 at one point.  Just insane.  Glad it's tapering off, and even more glad I was able to pay it.  Could be so much worse.
