What is your EDC (every day carry)?

Maybe it's just assumed, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned a guitar pick! I carry a pocketknife (used to carry my Leatherman), a small, no-fold wallet, my customized, delrin Fred Kelly SP (going on two years of service!) and a Dunlop Flow 2.0 (occasionally my glass Rock Slide). I can't imagine going any where without my pocketknife. Funny enough, it's probably the small scissors and tweezers I end up using more than the blade.

Funny, a pick used to be in my wallet at all times. Then, I went about 10 years just fingerpicking. Now, in the past year I've been carrying a pick again but it's been a real annoyance. My wallet is just a cc pouch with a bill clip fixed to it so the pick is either blocking me form putting a card back, or it's falling out when I pull a card out. If nothing else though, it's a conversation starter.

My son was at that Emmylou Harris/Graham Nash concert at Interlochen last week.
I'll be up there Aug 6,7,8.
My grandson is at camp there and the finale performances are that week.

I hope your son enjoyed the show as much as I did. Wow...just wow. The musicianship for both bands was stellar!

He went in thinking it might be OK, but he was really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening.
He said the crowd was primarily 70-ish (my age).

Back in the 70's, I used to park my VW beetle with an old battery on a hill in college so I could coast down the hill and start it on compression if, and when, the battery usually died in the winter. As the old saying goes: "Necessity is the mother of invention."

As part of my EDC, I have access to set lists, podcasts and audiobooks on my I-phone to listen to while driving to make the trip more enjoyable.  There's something to be said about seeing a performer who is still going strong well into their 80s. Case in point, my buddy and I are going to see Graham Nash on Tuesday at the Birchmere in Alexandria. VA. The last time I saw him perform live was 52 years ago in 1974 at the old Civic Arena in Pittsburgh.

Here's a tip to incorporate into your retirement planning strategy. Since retiring, I've taken road trips to see Mac MacAnnally, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy (twice), Richard Thompson, Tom Paxton, John McCutcheon and Colin Hay perform in the DC area alone.

Wife and I are 70 and 69, and I'd agree the crowd was well represented by folks in their 60-70's, but there were many 40-50's in attendance, as well. And far too few port-a-johns. There were only 8 behind the beer concession, and between acts there was a line with at least 100 people waiting not so patiently to drain their bladders.
