I really love these new Yamaha FG series red label guitars
One thing I don't understand is why after all these years they re-introduce it with the one and three-quarter inch width
Weren't all the original FG series 1 11/16?
I have small hands and it's very difficult for me to play the wider neck with
Anybody know why they did that?

1 3/4 has become the more popular width now and is the standard for a lot of brands, outside of their dreads. I noticed a lot of them switching over, over the years. I think they're just adapting to what sells best.

You can certainly adapt to the slightly wider fingerboard.
