P-09 Archtop Case questions

Hello,
This is my first post on this Forum.
I am blown away with the balanced resonant sound, comfort and the beautiful build of my P-09 that I played today for the first time. This my first Larivee guitar, having played for many decades.

It came with a flattop case. I like to keep a strap on the guitar, and am thinking about purchasing their P-09 Archtop Case as the flattop case is a bit tight with a strap. My impression is that the Archtop design will provide adequate room for the strap.

Does anyone have experience with either the Larivee Archtop or other Archtop cases built to fit the P-09?

I look forward to more involvement in this Forum. It offers great advice.
Many thanks!
Bob

Welcome to the forum! My experience with the arch top cases is that they have plenty of room and should accommodate a strap. However, mine were for mid and large sized Larrivees. I've not had a parlor. There's a number of folks here who greatly prefer the archtop and can probably chime in with more info.

Bob,

First, welcome to the Larrivee Forum. There are quite a few knowledgable members here and the forum is a great source of information. John Larrivee Jr. even checks in from time to time and so does his brother Matthew so don't be a stranger.

This isn't very scientific but I have a Larrivee archtop case for my 12 fret 00 that I purchased in 2024. I put a 2" leather strap on the top of the guitar and the lid closed easily. I would be careful about what kind of strap I stored on top of the guitar to ensure that it doesn't damage the top. The strap also fit easily into the storage compartment but there isn't much room for anything else. In the interest of full disclosure I don't use a strap for this guitar. I also have a Larrivee flattop case for my parlor which is smaller than a 00 but I don't use a strap for that guitar either.  I upgraded to archtop cases for my 14 fret LV and 12 fret LSV guitars when I bought them. I keep a few picks, capo, headstock tuner, slide, needle nose pliers, a string winder and a set of strings in each of my storage compartments. I also keep a 100% cotton cloth diaper between each of my guitar tops and the lids of my cases for polishing/wiping the guitar and strings down and for a little extra cushioning.

P.S. The archtop cases list for almost $300 on Larrivee's web site so I'd contact customer service to ask them about your request before laying out the money. I didn't upgrade the parlor to an archtop case since I only paid $500 for guitar.

Thanks Teh,
I've been doing some research. I've corresponded with Larivee, and they are very open to helping me figure this out. The fellow who wrote to me signed his note as: J.R.  I wonder if that is in fact the owner?

For the first time I have used AI to help me research cases and specs. Thus far, it seems that the TKL-parlor case (TKL 8875 LTD) is the best choice. The specs all around are fine, however the lower bout of the case is 13" while the lower bout of the P-09 is 13.25" Thus far the research suggests that is not a problem, as it provides a snug and reasonable fit. I'll likely get it from Elderly, who have been really helpful (ask for Logan). I have a 30-day return option if it is not the correct fit.

I need to use a strap all of the time due to some shoulder joint issues, not a problem. I've figured out the key to this aging challenge is a combination of acceptance and modifying what you do to continue to enjoy what you do.
And, I really like my strap anyhow.

Thanks again.

I have an archtop.  I agree with teh on all points.

The only thing I would add is you might want to look at the Crossrock CRF2021 with the twist lock latches.  Supposedly it is waterproof.  I recently bought a dread size and extra pads so it will fit all of my guitars for travel through changing climates.   I was in the high desert for three weeks with humidity as low as 11% and the CRF never got below 46% RH inside with just a sponge in dbl plastic bags hung in the sound hole.

Welcome to the Larrivee Forum, Time2play.
Yes, your reply from JR is John Larrivee, son of the founder, Jean Larrivee.
I think your strap will very likely lay down on top of your parlor inside of the Larrivee archtop case unless your strap is like this: https://armandocazares.com/products/deep-brown-hornback-alligator-guitar-strap-3-wide

(I really like those Crossrock cases John Lee Pettimore mentioned above.)
