Larrivee D01-R

I'm curious if there are those who have tried the Larrivee D01-R's? if they are connecting tone and feel with anyone and how you might describe thier tonal character,feel of fretboard;if you own a D03-R how does the sustain compare? I do understand this is subjective,even a bare bones Larrivee is appealing.

 I have not tried the new ones. But, I have an old D-01 12-string and have owned a D-03R. As far as I'm aware, the main difference is binding/purfling. It's a model for those would would rather not spend on cosmetics. I don't see any reason why they would sound different than the 03.

 Based on that, I think you can expect a rich-sounding dread without a low of bass-emphasis (relative to a Martin). I found the D03R to be charming and sweet sounding. Not a ton of volume, but sometimes the sweeter and more sparkly sounding guitars are the ones that aren't super loud.

the price difference between the D01-R & the D03-R is something in the range of 800.00 U.S? both are symmetrical parabolic bracing,so the maple bonding would be missed on the D01-R but that's alot dough for two satin finished dreads that with luck open up and sound gorgeous.I do like the look of the D01-R as well as the D03-R so,that would be a tough (Aestheic) decision if I we're looking to buy another Larrivee.
