My crazy mind goes to fearing the worst. I imagine that the sinker redwood sound boards are too brittle and they are having trouble working with the wood... Nonsense, of course. But I have heard that the artificial wood aging using torrification causes spruce to be very brittle and hard to work with.

Rest easy Stringpicker. You're going to get an awesome guitar.

When Matthew showed me those two pallets of cut rosewood beside the building last June with the Santa Ana winds blowing through them to dry them, it was clear they know what they're doing.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Larrivees are fans of torrefication either.

I know!
And the strings unravel as the sound hole just closes up while the bridge pins swell, exploding the bridge.
Then the saddle rides off into the sunset.

I was thinking of you guys yesterday when playing my sinker rw 00. I hadn't picked it up in a few months as I was waiting for my hands to heal up and I the sound really struck me. The bass is so dry and woody while the highs shimmer and linger. Reminds me how spruce guitars were sort of a crutch for my playing because that boomy bass can hide everything. With redwood, the note separation is so clear and you become really mindful of technique. I love that, but it caught me off guard a bit as it's like your playing is suddenly in HD.  :bgrin:

Regarding torrefication, it's interesting to see how the hype kinda died down in the acoustic world but now a lot of electric builders are using it to get more stable necks. The "pre-aged tone" thing doesn't seem to have connected with acoustic players.

Oh, one other thing, I don't think sinker redwood is brittle (it actually flexes a lot and you'll see that around the bridge) but it is stiff enough that the highs shimmer like crazy. It's a really fun thing if you like ambience and letting arpeggios ring out.

Hello Everyone,
We are excited to begin sharing images of the F-VII build! Please keep in mind that the lighting conditions may not always be perfect in the factory. As a result, colors might appear different due to excessive natural sunlight, yellow tint, or overly bright fluorescent light, which can create a greenish hue. I will do my best to correct these issues.
I will maintain a file with all the images I post and will include a flash drive with your guitar, so there's no need for you to save all the photos I share.

Enjoy the process!

You know the feeling when you are waiting forever for the 4th of July fireworks to start, and then suddenly the first fireworks start popping off? That's how I feel right now.  :bgrin:

Nice John, thanks.

I believe I've identified my side woods from these latest photos, as it's a 000 Walnut, and not a lefty. :thumb

Woo woo! We are going to have some gorgeous guitars soon!

My side wood is the first on the left, the 00 that is not Walnut.

Thanks for sharing John. The sinker redwood is magnificent. Super excited now...

Fantastic! Walnut/Lefty looks fab.  :cheers

I'm jealous...  :crying: Man, those are going to be nice!

Congratulations to the Forum VII buyers, this will be fun to follow. My recommendation is to enjoy the ride. These guitars will be magical once they are finished and shipped to you.
