I have to say, if anyone is ever looking for a comfortable alternative to a big dread body, Larrivee's 000 is a nice option. Fantastic bass for a mid size guitar!

I will 2nd that.
I played a couple of them today at [Destination Dealer] Elderly in Lansing.  :thumb

Well, my 'package' finally has arrived.  Not sure if I'm the last or not at this point.  Neat stuff.  Haven't looked at the photos yet but looking forward to doing that.

Many thanks to John and the Larrivee crew.

Additionally, wanted to add a comment about the FVII.  Having played it quite a bit now, I'm amazed at the wonderful timbre - top to bottom.  And one thing that I'm really thrilled about are the harmonics.  I play harmonics as part of some of the tunes I do and they just ring out forever.  This guitar is wonderful.

So, do we all have our guitars & packages?

I too am quite pleased with this Forum VII (000 redwood/black walnut) in my case. (not happy about the poor fitting flat top case though.)

I'm trying to figure out which strings to try on it.

Would love to hear about the extras if everyone has theirs.

I'll tell since it's been a few weeks and everyone should have theirs:

I received the sound hole wood cutout signed by Jean (and nicely sandwiched between 2 pieces of scrap rosewood for protection!), the USB flash drive with LOTS of pictures, a little key chain made out of sitka in the shape of the paddle headstock, and a few Larrivee guitar picks.

I'd love to see some videos of these guitar being played.  I'm not much up for videoing myself, so I get it if it's not your thing.

If a short sound clip [with video] works for you, here's a link to my FVII  - https://youtu.be/Q-tz5csBLIU

Jazzereh,

Nice job on the video clip and a nice wake-up call for the last Saturday morning of winter. The video should eliminate any concerns about the capabilities of a smaller body size to deliver across the bass, mids and trebles. Dreadnought, Jumbo and L bodies are no longer the only choices for delivering a solid bass presence.

I'm sure it was worth the wait.

With my tin ear, I can't pinpoint what the redwood top is bringing, but I really do love the 000 size, along with the mahogany b&s. It has a lovely deep bass and the 12 fret bridge placement gives off a warm rounded sound.

To the moderators.

If possible, can you update the link to Forum guitars to include the Forum VII? This would be useful to preserve and consolidate the history and evolution of guitars built between the Forum membership and Larrivee. On January 8, 2014, Queequeg posted a link to the past Forum guitars which is a helpful resource. Based on my review of these past builds, all Forum models are special and unique in their own way. The Moonwood top on the Forum VI and Redwood top on the Forum VII really set those two guitars apart.

I just spent the last 30 minutes scrolling through the Forum VI comments on the Forum Link and printed a screenshot of the final specs. I verified that the only two changes I made throughout the thread included switching to a Venetian cutaway and adding a factory installed pickup based on John's advice. Since then, I've added an all mahogany 00-24 and Baker T Pro to the mix and John set up a tour of the company with Matt.

Here's the WIKI page link.

I spent about 15 minutes messing around with our F VII threads and attempting to merge and then add them to WIKI but no joy.

If anyone knows how to edit/add the F VII links to WIKI, please have at it.
Now I have to leave for the balance of the day.
I hope I haven't lost anything in the process.

Forum VII gang, if you've changed strings already, what have you tried and what do you like, so far.

Last weekend I put on some DR sunbeams lights. They gave the guitar a super warm mellow tone. They are round core, so if you want to try them, remember to put a 90 degree kink in the wound strings to keep the core from slipping inside the winding, resulting in a dead string sound.

Stringjoy PB 13/56. Nice strings doing nice things. I think this guitar would sound good strung with clothesline.

Sounds good. I've got a few different sets lying around so I'll test drive something new this week. Not that there's anything wrong with the D'addarios it came with.
