Quote from: StringPicker6 on February 24, 2026, 02:46:13 PMGuitar arrived!!!!! Now the wait for the box and case to warm up... Anyone want to convince me that I don't need to wait an entire day to open it??? PLEASE?!?!
Here's what I personally do (not Larrivee approved, just me talking here) to speed things up. Even fragile instruments with nitro, varnish, and shellac finishes have done well with this. Don't do this if your room is very dry.
Take the case out of the box, lay it flat on the ground where no one is going to stumble over it. If you want to take it a step further, get the case off the cold floor by stacking some cardboard under each end.
Unlatch and open the case just enough to prop the edges open with guitar picks. Don't peek! You just want the smallest sliver of air transfer while the case warms.
After an couple hours, replace the picks with cardboard wedges.
After another hour or two, fold the cardboard.
I think you see where I'm going with this. Essentially, you're starting with a small bit of air transfer and increasing it as the guitar acclimates. Once you feel the guitar top is about the same temp as objects in the room, open the case and let the guitar sit for an hour or two, still in the case, so the back and sides acclimate via the sound hole.

That's a good suggestion, thanks!

And a photo of another nice sunset today, to our west, to go with the 000-01 arrived, and other nice things happening.

A little jealous of your abalone rosette.
Thanks.
I am not sure how I ended up with that abalone rosette.
But it sure does make the top look nice, so I am grateful.....

Well, I opened her up!!  WOW.  Just a stunning work of art.  Top is stunning, and the 000 shape is just SOOOO comfortable.  I'm in heaven.  I love the JCL headstock, and it looks like the bound edges of the fretboard now have a slightly chamfered edge for comfort- no sharp 90 degree edge anymore.  I did get the arch top case, but the inside label isn't signed.  That's ok, I have photo proof that Larrivee hands were all over this guitar!

Beautiful guitar.  Looking forward to getting a lot of play time with it.  For the record, I did get an arch top case but not a signed label.

Apparently we can't 'copy / paste' an image?

I had to go on my laptop computer to attach photos. Also had to reduce the size and put it in JPEG format.

WOW!  You'll be turning some heads with that one!  Not only a nice guitar, but it will be a great conversation piece.  You'll be telling lots and lots of people about Larrivee because of that guitar for years to come.  I've been a Larrivee preacher for years with my plain-Jane D-03 because of its sound. People have asked me over and over: "What kind of guitar is that?"  If it looked like this guitar of yours, I'm sure I'd have had many more conversations.

I'm happy for you all.  Such cool guitars, and with some cool history behind them.  Play them in good health!

Yes, but the question is: will I have the courage to take it out of the house?!?!

Just *drag* the file you want to the bar that says insert  image here, under where you type.

Nice Stringpicker but, I don't see the *back*

To be honest, the back of my guitar is just very straight grain and an even color tone.

Out of curiosity, did anyone order a 00 from this elite group? If so, I'd be curious to hear your impressions.

One other suggestion to Forum VII owners and Mike. The next time Larrivee announces a Pro Shop sale, take advantage of the discount and  order yourself a set of ebony or tortoise bridge pins with abalone dots. I put a set of the ebony pins on my 00-24 to complement the headstock inlay and a set of the tortoise pins on my FVI.

Trying again...  #205  [don't know why 2 photos show up]

I had enough trouble trying to get the top posted so wasn't going to bother with the back.  Basic mahogany.  But, here you go...

I also thought the label would be similar to the FVI indicating it was a Forum and 'Limited Edition'.

I think Riverbend's guitar is the one with the gorgeous golden mahogany back.  :thumbsup
