Sylvester Stewart, better known as Sly Stone died on Monday at age 82.
A terrific record producer and later, a visionary band leader, who influenced so many others but succumbed to the ravages of fame and the expectations that go along with it when sadly alcohol and drugs ended his career prematurely.
Earlier this year Questlove released a new documentary on the life of Sly Stone with the title, which now seems ironic; "Sly Lives" on Hulu.
And just today a true musical genius who suffered  from mental illness for most of his life, The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson died also at the age of 82.
It would be hard to overstate his talent, aptitude, gift— whatever you wish to call it- for composition and harmony and arrangements.
He has few if any peers in the rock 'n' roll world.

Sly and the family taugt me so much about music and playing guitar and bass.

Thanks Sly. :wave
