00-40 recording

I am working on a new tune and am posting an .mp3 of my 00-40.  The signal chain is direct from the guitar (piezo pickup) into a Presonus Studio channel and into my Scarlett interface.  Some added compression and reverb internally from Logic.  Strings are Elixer 80/20 's (11 - 52)  and are about 6 months old.  Sounds good!  I want to try a couple of Apex pencil mikes asap and will post.  I am interested to see how they will compare.  Stay tuned!

Nice playing, thanks for sharing.
I definitely recommend the pencil mics, or any mics. It's a whole other world recording acoustically vs a pickup.

Yes, I am aware that mikes are the preferred and best way to go.  I have just never had them and have always just plugged in to get thoughts recorded.  I have just relocated and have been able to set up my home studio again after a 2 year absence.  Sooooo, it will be good to try a few different configurations.  I will update the thread as able.

Thanks for sharing Ron.  I think the tone sounds great.  I haven't been so lucky to get a direct recorded sound from my guitars as good as that.

I use Rode nt5 matched pair and they are decent mics and reasonably priced...sometimes they go on sale up here in Canada.  The only thing I don't like about mics is sometimes there's a change in tone if you arent positioned exactly the same so if you want to change something or punch in at a later session you have to remember the mic position and proximatey and all the input levels.

What piezo pickup are you using?
