Give Thanks

Since today is Thanksgiving in the U.S., I wanted to pause for a moment and give thanks.

First, for my family and friends and also for my ability to travel about freely with relatively few hassles. I've also visited and toured both the Larrivee and Martin factories in 2024 too.

I also want to thank Larrivee for building me five really nice and unique guitars over the past 20 years including two in Vancouver and three in California. I've bought three of my Larrivees without playing them first and the design and build quality on all of my guitars has been exceptional. The wood used in my acoustic guitars includes Sitka, Moonwood, Mahogany (tops) and flamed maple, mahogany and American walnut (bodies) and swamp ash/quilted maple on my Baker T-Pro.

Best wishes to all of the members of the Forum.

Yes, indeed to all of the above.  :thumb
(And hopefully anyone traveling this weekend won't take issue with you regarding the ability to travel freely, given the winter weather advisories, plus a record number of air reservations.)

Just spatchcocked the bird. The weather is gorgeous so I'll be taking a long ride to, and then up the coast here in central Florida. To all who observe this holiday, have a good one.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  There is so much to be thankful for.  Table is all set at the Silence Dogood house and ready for guests.

Happy Thanksgiving! 2024 has been rough for many of us but I'm feeling good about the upcoming year. I'm tankful to all those around me who have been there through the tough times, including the fellowship of guitar friends on this forum.  :cheers

A little too busy yesterday to get on here, all the kids and grandkids came over. Nothing better than giving thanks surrounded by family and friends.  A couple Larrivees were played too😎 :nana_guitar

Same except from Tuesday-Saturday. The only Larrivee was played by my self and Son-in-law. Good times with kids and grandbabies! We have so much to be grateful for!

In keeping with the holiday spirit, I just stood up the Christmas tree in the living room and threw my back out.
I believe I'll take the rest of the day off now to celebrate and be thankful that at least I'm not flat on my back.

Oof! Hope you're ok!

I also wanted to keep the spirit going and had someone come to inspect our fireplace, which hadn't been used in at least 2 decades. They wanted over a thousand bucks to repair it and clean it. I think they're hurting for business as this is Phoenix hardly anyone has a fireplace, partially because it's been illegal to build a home with a fireplace for quite a long time. When they guy offered to do everything for $500 I finally agreed. My wife has wanted to be able to use this fireplace for the longest and, even though we really can't afford it right now, I just wanted to make her happy after the year she's been through.

Thanks. I think I'm OK. I stopped immediately  before it had a chance to seize up and I popped a couple XS Tylenols. Live tree was heavier than I realized.
It turns out I'm not as young as I used to be. :bgrin:

Hadn't heard that fireplaces were being outlawed.
I'm guessing due to particulate matter/pollutants(?).

We also stood up our tree this afternoon. We always get it the Friday after. There is a particular Home Depot that has a well sorted tree area, and not for too much money.
I am supposed to have the outside Christmas lights up by tomorrow evening.

Hope you're on the mend.  I injured my back doing Christmas decorations one year and it was the worst pain of my entire life.

An old saying comes to mind :

"You know you're getting older when your back goes out more often than you do"
