Wind speeds in the storm are expected to reach at least 130 mph by Thursday afternoon with 20 ft storm surge.
This is a major storm.
I've been through a hurricane but nothing like this.

Fingers crossed for all my relatives in St. Pete. As for me in Atlanta I'm pretty high and dry, but fingers crossed for my internet and electricity.

My mother lives in St Pete's beach and I am waiting for an update from her. She's usually out of town long before any threat arrives so I'm not overly worried. Mostly hoping her property and business are ok.

My two brothers in St Pete had power outages, now back on, but today's new wrinkle is water cutoffs. Brother in mid-rise on beach in St Pete beach had the lobby floor flooded and all floor units damaged by water. More inland brother #2 on a reservoir had water rise to 6" below their doorway. Both currently have no running water so brother #2 fills buckets from outdoors to flush and brother #1 and wife are "holding it" 

Me, I slept thru it's path past Atlanta and when I woke up saw nothing alarming but nearby creeks were flooding streets. Glad you dodged the bullet, UncleRob!


edit: This just in - Brother #2 reports the city water treatment pipes are busted and it may take a week to repair. Meanwhile their elevator is down and they're on the 8th floor. Yikes, a daily walk to the beach with a bucket then 8 floors up.

We are many hundreds of miles away, totally in the clear, here in Lytle, Texas.
A relative in St Louis had some minor roof damage due to wind/rain however.
Our City Public Service (CPS) sent a bunch of electrical trucks/crews, I don't know where they got deployed.
