An old non guitar playing friend picked this PRS Angelus SE Standard up new in 2012 after retirement to learn guitar, gave it up quickly and loaned it to his stepson. Well he got it back and it sat in its case for a year in his living room until I got tired of seeing there unused so I horse traded for it. Solid top and mahogany back. Plays and sounds nice but not a Larrivee. I plan to wire a LR Baggs Imix system I got cheap on eBay in it just to see how the Baggs Imix sounds and use it as a knock around guitar for giggles and grins. Like I really need another guitar. Perhaps I need a prescription for some Gas-X or play more pickleball.

Here's an update on my PRS SE Standard: for those who are unfamiliar with the LR Baggs iMix, it is a dual Ibeam/Element pu system that is preamped stereo/mono with a flick of a switch. The preamp is Velcro'd inside the guitar along with the 9v battery pack. The preamp has mini gain and tone controls, a summed stereo/dual mono out switch and is about the size of a 9v battery. The volume control unit is remote to the upper soundhole of the guitar. Other than reaming out the endpin jack and drilling a hole in the saddle slot, it is pretty easy to install. You can sum it together and TS mono it out but I like to run it out TRS dual stereo out to an old outboard Fishman Mini Blender to further tweak individually the two signals for a better tone. The  PRS  embossed tuners are metric and probably Pings or an equivalent. Since they are metric spec, I replaced them with Gold Gotoh 510s, the post holes are 10mm ( I find the 510s are more exact, hold pitch better and having a slightly heavier mass, seem to give the guitar better sustain). Finally I installed an OM pick guard. The PRS Angelus, I found out when installing the Ibeam doesn't have a bridge plate glued under the saddle. I guess it has something to do with the hybird/bracing system PRs incorporates on their acoustics. Like many imports, the polyurethane finish is heavier than a Larrivee, but it can can take more of a hit and not ding as easy, so more suited for taking out than my Koa guitars. Plugged in through  my Fishman Blender, I would rank it close to my plugged in C10 Koa/Baggs Anthem, if you discount the C10K's tonal superiority.

As you can see from my acoustics, that I am an LR Baggs guy and the Imix dual system had always intrigued me. Nothing wrong with other pickup systems, but I had a chance to horse trade for an acoustic to try out this system so I took it. Like that guy in the first Dirty Harry movie, "I gots ta know!"

One of my friends has one of these PRS acoustics.  His is maple stained blue on the back and sides, a really stunningly beautiful guitar!  I like it a lot.  Play yours in good health!
