On the custom options prices it indicates flame or quilt maple back and sides are "market price."  Where would this cost typically fall compared to the same model with rosewood back and sides, specifically flame maple.

I am curious specifically for an idea on a JV-03 with flame maple back and sides.

The cost will fall upwards, how far up can't say. The best way to find out is from Larrivee directly, or contact Larrivee through a dealer.
When we did the Forum VI, John said (this was mid-2021) that maple was in short supply due to covid and wood mill shutdowns, plus cutting of maple into guitar parts was not as profitable as other things. By "other things" John may have meant that other industries were snagging all the good stuff but I am just guessing. At any rate, John discouraged us from maple.
Since you would only be ordering a single guitar, I would definitely ask Larrivee.

Significantly more than east Indian rosewood, particularly because it's a jumbo and Larrivee chooses really nice maple. Ask a dealer to get a quote for your build. It's easy and you're under no obligation.

Something to consider, if you spend that much on maple do you really want to cloud it under a satin finish? It's like putting the Mona Lisa under frosted glass.

I had a flame maple jumbo Larrivee with the best set of maple I've ever seen. However, when I sold it, it wasn't valued all that much more than any other Larrivee jumbo. Meaning, you're going to pay a lot for this build but might not see much of it back on the used market if you ever go to sell so keep that in mind. Larrivee jumbos are beautiful sounding and hard to find so I think getting a custom is definitely worthwhile if that's what you're after. I regret selling mine.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

I would probably want gloss finish but if course depending on cost.

The resale value on custom items always hurts...a lesson I've learned many times over lol

I've had a thing for acquiring a jumbo for some time and of course SJ200 comes to mind but I'm not sure I want to spend $7400 CDN plus tax and hopfully get a good one without any glaring imperfections.  Not to mention, it's an enormous cost and as soon as I find myself playing it less or think of something else I want I'll start thinking of selling or trading it.  A Larrivee cutaway jumbo looks like a great guitar and reasonable price but yeah...add maple and gloss finish and I'm sure it's getting negligably close to an SJ.

I might have to strongly consider the JV-03R, it's a lot of guitar!
