The last time I saw him he played both keyboard and guitar. Badly, unfortunately. I gather sore hands have caught up to him although he played guitar recently on all three songs at Farm Aid. Over the years, I've kind of liked his piano playing, however. Quirky but good.

So like I've said, I've seen Dylan six times. The first in 1974 with The Band. Amazing. The next four times were all great shows. The last time, my friend and I drove 450 miles to Winnipeg to see Dylan with Mark Knofpler as the opening act. We were excited to see both of them. So Knopfler comes on and plays every song from, Privateering, an album that had not been released in North America and then, for his encore, one Dire Straits song, "So Far Away". Ha ha, we get it Mark.
Dylan follows with one of the worst performances of his career. We found out earlier, when we had dinner with an old friend who lived there, that on his previous visit to Winnipeg, the audience treated his performance very poorly. Our friend said it was a a good show, however. I said to my accompanying friend, I don't think he could have played worse if he did it on purpose. To me, it was almost like Dylan was saying, "Oh Winnipeg, you thought that was bad!" But who knows? Anyone can have a bad night. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

At least you got to see Knopfler! Privateering is a great album

It is. I enjoyed the show but when you're not familiar with any of the songs, for most people, it's hard to get into it. And I think it's kind of perverse to not give the audience anything they may want. For the record, there was some kind of dispute that held the album back from being released in N.A. Knopfler had to know that practically no one had heard this album and he also had to know that Sultans of Swing would have killed. Go figure.  :?
