Haha...the needle rarely moves here in the Mandolin topic. That's too bad, as these are really nice mandolins!

They sure are! I don't play my Kentucky that often so don't deserve one of those!  :cheers

The Yurt poster has the other F33 I had, and I now have his former A33 (shown). Now that guy can REALLY play a mandolin, and a guitar, and a tenor banjo and Lord knows what else. I suspect he'll be along here shortly as it's been mostly just the two of us posting here. Thanks for waking up the thread!

I have an A style Kentucky KM-900. Pretty nice mandolin or so everyone who plays better than me (which is pretty much everyone), tells me. The Larrivees were way out of my price range.

I have a Collings A-style that, sadly, has only been out of its case maybe twice all year.  There was a stretch of about ten years where I played mandolin a lot more than guitar.  In all truth, I just got tired of being terrible at it and the desire to keep trying sort of faded. I have played the same handful of tunes over and over again for years and never seem to improve.  I don't care for bluegrass so that's out, and I mostly have stayed close to Irish and Folk tunes.  I think about getting it out often but seem to always reach for my guitar instead.  There is only so much time in life for me to play music, and I want to spend that time doing what I actually enjoy.

I'm pretty much the same. I probably should sell it but I do take it out occasionally to remind me why I play guitar.  :laughin:

I sort of made a commitment to the mandolin a few years ago, in that I was, at the time, a "just ok" mandolin player. Now I'm maybe "just ok +". :roll
Sure is fun though!

Yeah, I'm okay as long as I stick to rock'n'roll mandolin or like the guy in the Dire Straits song. Strictly rhythm.     :laughin:

It sure is a long bridge between levels of accomplishment on the mandolin IMHO. And at 66 years old, my dexterity isn't necessarily getting any better, either. Neither is the arthritis! Learning not only what to play, but  when to play it has been enlightening.
