Played last night at Odin and Freja's in Scandinavia WI. Nice little bar. Great time. I brought three guitars. My Martin D-35, Yamaha NTX 900FM and my Larrivee L-01. Had some trouble with the first two so played the Larrivee for the vast majority of the night. That guitar is a trooper. Very solid .... for an acoustic. Got a hug from a young woman with dreadlocks and Buddy Holly glasses. Maybe I reminded her of her grandpa. LOL

Way Cool....Was it a paying gig?Wish I could do some gigs but alas.....

Paying and tipping. Not just beer either. LOL

By the way, if they're not paying you, you're not gigging, you're giving.

The old saying is we got paid to set up.

Since this is now my wife's favorite bar, at six bucks per glass of Pinot Grigio, we'll be giving it all back in no time. LOL

Looks like you're going for a monster bend on the first pic on the left.  Nice!

Heh. I believe we were jamming on All Along the Watchtower. Pushing that B string up a whole tone.

Played again Friday night. After a couple sets solo, I jammed on a few tunes with the owner who is a fine bass player and Mike the house drummer. Got to use my pawn shop, candy apple red Strat for the first time. I also played harp on a rack for the first time in public. Lotsa fun!

I couldn't buy a gig in my home town. I seem to be doing alright here in Central Wisconsin. As we've seen in the past, Canadians go over well down here!  :laughin:

I detected a high degree of enthusiasm in your post.

Oh, I may lack a lot of things, skill, talent, money etc. but like my wife's new puppy there's usually no shortage of enthusiasm.  :laughin:

Unfortunately, back in Canada, my best friend and musical partner said he had zero interest in performing any more. I like the studio but playing for people is where music is at.

Different strokes, etc.  It's funny, for a long time I wondered what was wrong with me, because playing in front of people would make me miserable.  There seems to be this built-in assumption that when one learns to play guitar, he is going to be playing it for others.  But I never enjoyed that part of music.  It was many years later when I realized that I'm a player but not a performer.  It took my enjoyment of just sitting around alone playing my guitar to new levels.  I rarely even think about playing in front of others anymore.  Once a year there is a big Xmas party I attend.  The hosts always ask me to bring along my guitar for carol-singing.  I lead that and enjoy it, but that's not the same as being on stage.

S'all good man. You can practice law in a back room or in front of a jury. "playing for people is where music is at." Of course, I meant ... for me that's where it's at. Although most of my playing is before an audience of one, my dog, playing for people is the most fun. Again, for me.
