Just wondering if the Larrivee necks on thier parlors have the same ( to me) comfortable neck profile as my JO3 an L03,the ones I've played seemed to have that same comfortable neck before 2025.I'm asking because my Wife has (obviously) good taste...
and this time it isn't me getting a new guitar...today but after playing my other guitar's,She wants a Mahagony Larrivee OM-03 or P03.Again thank you folks on this forum for your kindness and prodigious knowledge all things Larrivee.

P.S one of these days I will figure out how to send pictures of my Larrivee's.

Shellback,

You have a couple of nice Larrivees and it's good to see your wife will be joining the club. Here's my input to your question based on 20 years of experience with Larrivee. Hang around this forum and you will gain some valuable insights about Larrivee Guitars from experienced, knowledgable players.

I have a 2004 Larrivee Parlor P-03, a 2021 LSV-03, a 2024 00-24 and relatively small hands and all three guitar necks are comfortable to play. I'm not technical enough to explain the differences but the neck profiles on a new parlor or OM should be comparable. All three of my Larrivee guitar necks described above are 12 fret, 1 & 3/4" neck but the scale length is 24" on the Parlor, 25.5" on the LSV and 24.9" on the 00.

If you or she are leaning toward the parlor, she may also want to consider the 00-03 which is also a 12 fret guitar but with a longer scale. Larrivee works wonders with mahogany and when applying satin finish and that's part of the reason I have two of them. My first was a 2005 12 string, all mahogany LV03 and last year, I ordered an all mahogany six string 00-24. It was worth the 19 year wait.

If you get a chance, google "Jason Wilber" on YouTube and open up some of his videos. He was John Prine's lead guitarist for many years and he played a Larrivee spruce/mahogany parlor for most of the acoustic lead work. These videos showcase the flexibility and range of the Larrivee parlor.

Oh I forgot about Wilber, cool to hear the p-03 amplified!!

I would LOVE to try a full scale OO and also 25" scale OO. Saying this, folk say they're fuller but... The smaller scale is so punchy, fun and very very warm. I love them.

The necks are pretty much all the same imo, some very very slight differences from guitar to guitar but 99% similar.

Larrivee definitely does wonders with mahogany.

Hi teh,

Thankyou for your response,My Larrivee's are Mahogany & quilted mahagony-just got done playing;Larrivee mahagony guitars are singular & always calm evenness of thier tonality,or,calming evenness.Jean in an interview(can't remember where) commented on his belief that those twelve fret guitars are the best-bridge location on the soundboard I suppose? so a 00-03 might work as well! I will Google Jason Wilber, any excuse to listen to the bittersweet comical-pithy Prine maestro,I'll take! Thanks teh!
