The Forum VI 3D Printed Pick

I have been working on this for a while. A few iterations of design and then re-design to accommodate the limitations of my printer. I tried several versions of this and these two final designs are what I am presenting to you.

I will custom print one of these for every original owner of the Larrive Forum VI Guitar, free of charge.

It is a simple design yet one that uses two tool changes. I could actually make these 3 colors but chose to just "Sandwich" the "inlay" material between two layers of the same color.

I tried to add Larrivee and even attempted an actual logo but it started to look too busy. The logo was not pretty. lol. I would have to try to print it with a .25mm nozzle and that can be challenging and inconsistent. At least with this design, I know that every time I print one, it will work. The surface may look a little rough in the photo below but they are surprisingly smooth in real life.

We have Terra Cotta with a White inlay and Brown with a Terra Cotta inlay. If you want one of each design, let me know which color scheme you would like for each one.

These picks play really nice. They are 1mm thick and printed using PETG 3D filament.

Shoot me a PM with your address if you want one or two.

The collection of designs and printing attempts. They were getting to be over 2mm thick with the embossed lettering. It does provide a nice grip but I prefer the "inlay" versions as they don't affect the flexibility of the pick.

Wow - those are very cool! I'm sure we'll all be in touch to get ours...   :thumb

Very nice Mark, and a very kind and generous gesture I might add. I have no preference, they're both cool in either color. I'll take one with what you think is the best grip. Thank you!

Started to batch print the picks.

Here is a short video showing the printing process. Remember, this printer is melting the plastic at 240c and laying it down on a heated textured steel sheet at 90c. The picks this process produces are actually pretty cool. I laughed when I first thought about 3D printing picks. I intend to experiment with different materials, softer, maybe some carbon fiber infused plastic. It will be fun.

That is the very first layer of brown being laid down after terra cotta layers so it is not as dark as the final product will be. It mixes the two colors for the first layer or two until it takes on it's actual color.

First batch, I screwed up and made the color switch one layer too soon. There are 9 of these "mistake" picks that just have a slightly darker inlay than the terra cotta inlay.

The first 9 people to claim their free Forum VI pick, will get one of the mistake picks included.

Pretty cool, and I wonder if someday they'll make a guitar like that, if they haven't already!
I sent you my address, and thanks again for the kind gesture!

Awesome, but aside from crushing my enemies in battle, can it help me make You tube videos more entrancing and lifelike?

Well, it does have an AMD 5950X 16 core / 32 thread processor overclocked to 4.6Ghz all core and 64GB of ram and a 24GB NVIDIA RTX3090 liquid cooled GPU. It can do a lot for video processing.  :cop:

edit to say that the photo above is before the 3090 GPU upgrade. Pictured is a lowly AMD 6900XT. Which is AMD top of the line GPU which is in my other workstation now.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled program...
