Can't PM someone who PMed Me Because I don't have enough posts :-(

I understand that running forums is voluntary and difficult in this age of internet predators, but I find myself in a predicament whereby someone PMed me, and I have no way of PMing them back. I may have found that same user on another site, so he may contact me; however, this is kind of an absurd situation. Short of me posting a bunch more times (I had 2 posts, and I guess this counts as a 3rd) is there a way around this?

"Absurd"? It's to protect forum members from bots and spammers. Isn't it only like 10 posts required? If so, they're not asking a whole lot.

This forum has "for sale" listings but not with all kinds of protective mechanisms like Facebook Marketplace or Reverb.
No one is deliberately trying to make you suffer. Our safeguards are primitive.
Too bad about the minimum number of posts, but work around it. I mean, you haven't read any rules, I guess. Or imagined the Larrivee Forum would even have any rules?
Anyhow, just post your email in this forum in a weird way, like, "yourname_at_gee_male_dot_com" and even a moron could figure that out.

You've been a member over 2 years here and yet no posts until someone tried to contact you today.    At this rate you will be able to post personal messages sometime in 2025    :thumbsup

From the Forum Rules section: "Effective immediately,  Newbies with less than 10 posts can send and receive PMs.
This is being changed to afford greater ease of use for new Forum members, particularly for those engaged in trading on the Marketplace boards.
If problems arise as a result of this relaxation, the restriction will be reinstated."

So what gives?  Why is it not working?  :donut  :donut2

I understand not letting newbies or spammers to hit the ground running, harassing members with PM's or soliciting.  However, if a member PM's me, like has just happened to me, I am simply trying to reply to them.  Days and weeks go by and they never hear back from me.  So I have to make 6 more posts?  Well 5 more after this one!  :nana_guitar   Who exactly is that helping?   :gotdonuts:

And it isn't following the Forum Rules, shown above.

We had a problem, and the rule was changed back one year ago.
Please see the following post, then read that thread, and there is another thread referenced about a scam where the PM feature of the group was used.

I didn't like re-instating the rule a year ago, but I have grown used to it. It probably should never have been relaxed to begin with.
You can get past the 10 post minimum in the next 10 minutes if you try.
