Ok, latest email from John... no pickguards moving forward, they have it sorted out.
Mike
I just got an update from FedEx that mine should be delivered by noon today!   And if I understand correctly, it seems as though I can expect to find the pick guard installed? And if so, how badly will I want to remove it? It's not something I'm going to worry about too much, but it is a preference. I've never tried to remove one and would be admittedly pretty apprehensive about damaging the finish and/or the wood. I've read about using naphtha and would sincerely appreciate any advice or recommendations for removing a pick guard, and specifically on a brand new guitar, if that is a consideration. Also wondering if the warranty would be voided for removing it.

That sounds like a great way to end the last week of 2021 and ring in the new year.

I am still awaiting my call from John but I am out of town until next Monday so I want to coordinate the arrival of the guitar with my return home. I'll text him on Friday morning if I haven't heard anything. At my age, I've learned to be patient.

I'm really pleased with the fact that our original projected completion date was 6-12 months and at least half of these guitars were shipped and received in under 6 months. Kudos to The Larrivee Team for keeping this build on track and for keeping us informed throughout the process.

Ah, shoooot! I really do not like pick guards, and my guitar was in the first shipment, so it sounds like it will arrive with the pick guard attached. I, too, removed a pick guard from a satin finish guitar and pulled a chunk of wood out of the top... cost me $100 to repair and I had to put a pick guard back on to cover the repair! I had removed many pick guards before and never had an issue, but they were taken off of gloss guitars.
Maybe Larrivee could give us a tutorial on how to remove it.

Amen! They pretty much nailed the 6 month timeline!

Of the guitars not shipped last week, but completed, John will find out. If my eyes were correct, that "might" have been Scott's guitar and mine, plus maybe the three that are on the "extras" list.
John made reference to the "shutdown". I do hope that means Larrivee is giving their employees time off, and we should all be happy about that.
Mike

Well, I would have LOVED no pickguard, was planning on adding a clear one down the road...that said, if it's already installed I am fine with it. I also saw mine was looking pretty darn finished and strung up! Glad to hear the Larrivee team is getting the week off, everyone needs to recharge every now and then.

Cheers,

SS

My sentiment, as well, and in a way I'm glad to know what to expect regarding the pick guard so as not to be surprised. Better to have found out beforehand. Just as happy to have that box sitting here!

Thanks Mike, been working on this place for years. Many projects to go. This nice new guitar will slow my progress, undoubtedly. And I peeked, quickly, and do have an attached pick guard. And I didn't blink.  Didn't strum it, didn't take pictures, noticed what looks like a bit of filler just off center on the back seam. She's back in her case awaiting acclimation! First glances said " :nice guitar:".

I appreciate that we are remaining cordial and even-headed about the pickguards.
During this entire process, it has always been pleasant and friendly.
I think Larrivee has been a great partner in this, and moved us along nicely.
We are getting our guitars faster than the dealers are getting theirs, and there isn't any guarantee that a pickguard would not have been inadvertently added, or extra dots included on a guitar or two, even if we had got the guitars two or three months from now.
Thanks all.

Update.
I got an email from John a few minutes ago and he said Jean told him the remainder of the guitars are completed and staged for shipping. John is going to double check to make sure, and said Jean is going to see if any last photos can be taken.
So I expect some phone calls to be made....

All good Mike! Great job herding us along in fine measure! Mine is warming slowly and nicely so I comfortably took a couple pictures. The wood is stunning! The moonwood top is about the most beautiful guitar top I've ever seen! And if running my fingers gently over the strings is any indication, I'd say the tone will be nothing short of WOWWOWWOW! The darn thing is almost in tune after it's journey and my ever so gentle fingernail sweep across the strings left me a little weak in the knees. Can't wait (but I will) to drive her around the block a few times!

Hey Riverbend, it looks like your shipping box remained unscathed, mine had a nice gash in one of the side corners, which sped up my box opening, to check for possible damage, it was okay though.
Yours looks great, you're gonna love playing it.

"And just like that".... I no sooner posted the above and John called. While we were on the phone Scott called in, he had been looking for a place to pull over on the highway to return John's call.
Whatever calls John can get done by 11.30 AM Vancouver time (1.30 central) those guitars will get shipped out today.
I commiserated with John about their weather (minus 20 C), and rubbed it in we are having a string of 75 degree days here. We won't be rubbing it in when its over 100 this summer though. You don't want to know what John's heating bill is gonna be.
I love how we can all experience this in real time. Boxes arriving, pics being posted, comments shared. Beats the average NGD type post by a wide margin.

Add me to the list.  Got 'THE CALL' from John and it should be on the way tomorrow.  Given cross border and almost all the way across the country, not likely here for a couple of weeks.  They say that all good things come to those who wait.  Oh well........

Mine got delayed. I kind of figured it would not make it here today based on how long it spent in CA.

I'm thinking possibly tomorrow but probably Thursday.   :guitar
