Hi Guys

just answered the Martin versus Larrivee question (at least for myself). Last week traded my Martin D 18 Custom Shop with Adirondack top, 12 fret slot head for a Larrivee L09E that is due to arrive Monday.
In the past I've owned 3 Santa Cruz's, a Collings, a Froggy Bottom, Gibson B25, Gibson G-45 (which I traded for a Larrivee OM-40, sorry I later sold the Larry), a Lowden (when no one knew what they were), 6 different Martins from D-42 through D-28, D 18 and 0017 and 16.Oh and a Zager and McPherson carbon fiber Oh and the Ovation I had to have  LOL. I'm sure I forgot some others (age challenged? LOL)
Basically churning guitars until I found out it was me that wasn't too good, not the guitars LOL. The Froggy bottom is the only one besides the OM 40 that I wish I still had.
It goes without saying I'm very excited waiting for the L's arrival (why do I always buys guitars from the East coast when I live in California and have to wait 10 days to get?).
Not sure what year it is and really buying site unseen (what could possibly go wrong with that?).
Anyways, when it gets here I'll post some pictures and give you my opinion of the new purchase. Love reading this Forum, easy going and knowledgeable people here (along with the Larrivee's themselves)
Later, wish me luck.
My best to all of you.

Like you I can't remember all the guitars and bass's I have own.I had several L bodies but a couple off months back I got an L10 koa from 98 and this is the one beside's my OM03PA.Couldn't  be happier.Congrats I hope the L09E is your forever. :wave   :gotdonuts:

I have owned a lot of guitars. A Larrivée L is the one guitar I will never be without.  :beer

I have no idea, since Larrivee builds guitars right there in Oxnard, CA - and you could probably drive to the factory and try one...

Congrats! I have an L09 and a D18 (which has been in Nazareth since September under warranty), and honestly, and my 2005 L09 is maybe the finest fingerstyle guitar I have ever played (much less owned!).  I have been playing this one exclusively since the D18 went in for work, and I am so taken with my Larry L09 that I am toying with picking up a D05 and swapping my D18.

No kidding.  Again, Congrats!!

All I would need is for Jean to trade for my used Martin and give me a used guitar in exchange LOL.

I feel the same way about my Larrivee L-40 Limited
Edition (alpine spruce over rosewood). And I, to, have a D-18. As much as I like my Larrivee D-03 Custom, all mahogany (great, balanced tone) I don't think I'll ever part with my D-18. I feel fortunate to have both dreads plus such an exquisite L-. They, all three, compliment each other nicely.😋 I'll bet your L-09 is beautiful to play and to look at!

Well, yes. They are both great guitars, the 18 checks a lot of boxes for genre, my voice, my playing style, etc.  When I play out folks always complement my 18 sound.  And the L09 is THE perfect complement to it imho ... , I like the clarity, crispness, non-muddy lower end, the the L09 gives over the 18, and the Rosewood rings through wonderfully. Not to mention it is a pleasure to hold and play - perfect body size! Both keepers, but I want to try out a D05 for comparison purposes. Can't find one anywhere to try, however.  Plenty of D40's though.

Well, a D-05 is a very good guitar. I hope you find one to play. They're not exactly an easy guitar to locate...as you said. Probably worth the wait, though. I find that much of the time, the
journey is almost as fun as the acquisition!

BTW, did your L-09E arrive on Monday, as you indicated? If so, please give us your impressions!
