I am considering a L-03R for my next guitar. I have played a couple and really like them. Why would someone favor an L over an OM, or an OM over an L ??

I already have a Taylor dread (410R) so the canon base is pretty well covered.

I am learning fingerstyle and would like the OM or L to by my fingerstyle guitar.

hey, wayne.  L bodies are designed with finger style in mind and the OM is supposedly designed with both finger style and strumming in mind although you can do pretty much any of thse styles on either body.  Play both and let your ear make up your mind for you.  Both bodies are relatively small and comfortable.  I have an L-05 and a LC-09.  Love em both and I play strumming and fingerstyle.  Good luck!

I actually traded a Taylor 410r for my current L-09.  Both are great guitars.  While a rosewood L is definitely going to be different then the 410, it is not going to be drastically different.  I myself like variety so I would lean a little more towards the OM, which I think will offer you a great range of tone between 2 guitars.  If you really like the L shape (they are incredible) then you may even want to consider Mahogany or another wood.

I finally got to play all of the Larrivee styles this past week......the Podium in Minneapolis has an 03 L, OM, D in at the same time.  I drift toward the OM evertime.  I think the L is very unique to any other maker, but I really like the feel and sound of the OM for fingerpicking.  It does have a widder neck though.  I currently have a D-03MT that I love for what it does, but I am GASSING for an OM.....too bad I won't be able to ever get one since I told my wife that my D-03 was the last guitar that I will ever buy.   WHy on earth did I do that?  I also have a satin parlor, so I do have something fun to fingerstyle with, just always want more.....you know what I mean?

Oh well.....go with the OM....I love 'em and I think you will too.

Larrivee Mahogany Parlor-01 (unbound 2000)  "Mabelle"

I had to get one of each-OM03R and LO3 mahogany-I went through a few trials with guitars bought sight unseen (2 0f which were Larrivee). These 2 Larrivee's I recently acquired are very nice indeed and hopefully bring to an end a two year search for personally suitable guitars. I never tire of playing them,
