Whoever put my old L-10 up as guitar of the month. (JOYCE?) Thanks! Yes it has some stories hoopsfan, including some that can't be told. And now perhaps the biggest of all. When my house burned, man it went up quick. The only guitars that made it out were in the side rec room that was half way safe to go in and grab stuff. It took the firefighters a while to get there. Flames already shooting out the windows. I asked them if they saw any guitars that weren't already toast, please grab them. One of the guys grabbed the old L-10. I really, really thought it was a goner. Man the case was burned up, even exposing the guitar in places. It was black from soot, and wet. The strings were black and completely loose. My bud Mark, who was in the house as well at the time, took it home with him. Mark builds guitars and mandolins as well as doing repairs. He was able to clean it up. The top was sunk way down, The neck out of whack. He got the top back by stuffing it full of wet rags, tight, putting pressure on top and then heating up the rags with a blow dryer. He took the frets off and redid the neck and frets. reglued the bracing including fixing the cracked ones. Fixed an impact crack it took on the back. And who knows what else. We're best of friends and I know he spent A LOT of time on it. Incredibly the thing honestly plays and sounds as good, if not better than ever! The finish is bubbled up in places and well as the clear pick guard. But we decided to leave it as is and not refinish. I may take the pick guard off. It really, and I mean really, makes me wonder if there weren't more forces at work that saved it. Anyway..thanks for honoring my baby. Had her 40years now.  matt
10-1614 more than a number, it's body and soul.
