The newly announced T40 series seems to be a wonderful travel guitar. But I cannot make out the size from the data given. In particular, is it smaller than e.g. the Taylor GS mini?

In one of larrivee's news releases it is described as slightly smaller than a parlor. So I guess slightly more travel friendly than a parlor.  :bgrin:

Yes, I read that too, but I need to know how it compares to a GS mini for packing reasons.

You can find the dimension the Larrivee site and then compare them to the GSMini specs from Taylor.

Thanks, found it, and it is indeed slightly smaller which is great.

Hi there,
I'm replying on this topic because I just bought a new T40R. It is a true wonderfull gem and it fits nicely next to my P-01 and P-09 custom Braz. But now I'm looking for a perfect fit softcase (it came with the larrivee Parlor case). Does anyone has a suggestion?
Dear regards,

Congrats on the T40 Robbyletrunk. I'd love to try one of those. Please post some pics!

Did you ever find a perfect fit softcase?

I have a Levy's parlor gig bag that fits my P-03 well.  sweetwater sells them for about $40.  Here's the Levys website:  https://levysleathers.com/collections/bags/products/economy-bags?variant=47870312415548

Looks like this may be an even better size than a parlor case, anyone try it?

Yes, that looks like a good one.  You could also try taking your guitar into a guitar store and trying out a gig bag for proper fit.  I find that a lot of guitar stores have gig bags for sale.

That's good thinking, I did not see this one at the Guitar Center near me, but maybe I could order it and return it if the fit is terrible.

Good idea.  And I know that guitarcenter does carry gig bags in their stores, so great place to visit.  In my mind there is no "superior" gig bag.  It's just a means to travel easily with a guitar without a big cumbersome hard case.  Most these days are pretty good with nice padding.

The T40 is an interesting concept. If I did not already have a Larrivee Parlor, Martin Backpacker and Little Martin, it would be on my short list. I have three interesting guitar case stories to share. The point is there are always options available to pursue.

1) About 5 years ago, I bought a used Alvarez Artist Dreadnought that did not have a case or gig bag. The guitar fit perfectly inside the original blue case that my Martin D35 came with when I bought it in early 1977. I did a lot of research online and found a Yamaha Gig Bag was the best fit for the Alvarez.  The added bonus is that I can use both the gig bag and hardshell case to swap the two dreadnought guitars back and forth.

2) When I bought my Larrivee Parlor back in 2004, it was shipped with a gig bag. My dealer, Trinity Guitars, ordered me a hardshell case which cost me $70 at that time. The gig bag was also a perfect fit for my first guitar made by Giulietti Guitars back in the late 60s which is about the same size as my Larrivee parlor.

3) When I bought my LSV03 Forum VI, I upgraded to an arch top case.  Even though it is slightly smaller, it matches the arch top case that my custom 12 string (LV03) arrived with in 2006.

Good luck.

I just bought a T-40 and have been researching gig bags. The size closest to it is the GS Mini, so for a gig back, I plan to buy either the GS Mini standard gig bag ($99) or aero case ($199). I have a GS Mini myself (going to sell it), but the standard bag is excellent.

It's me again about that GS Mini bag. Nevermind, I was wrong. The bout sizes on the GS mini bag are too wide for the the T-40! So don't purchase it for your T-40. So sorry about that.
