Angie and I got out the resonator and did little video of this Steel Drivers song today.
We're adding it to song list to do out. The resonator is a Smith & Young model 10 made by National. Rare bird. They only made them a short time before Don Young, RIP, got sick and had to leave National. It is number 46 of 69 wooden body spider bridges made by National and I would think most of them were square neck Dobro type.. I picked up a big fat steel slide instead of the thinner brass one I normally use which was probably dumb. It sounds better but I need to get used to it. A little clacky but that's alright. I'll get my touch adjusted.

Wow.
I watched the video once, then just listened thru the headphones with my eyes closed.
You don't need a video.
Also checked out the Steel Drivers on this... your version is better.
Wonderful.
Mike
PS - I did get a resonator, an Epi Hound Dog Deluxe, used. Played many others, it sounded better unplugged. Happy so far.

Well thank you Mike. We appreciate it. And yes I encourage anyone who's had a resonator in the back of their mind to get one if they can. I put off for decades and finally got that 4 years ago when I was 55. I had never used finger picks or played slide or played in open G tuning. (on this tune I actually knocked the 2nd string down a half step to G minor, then capo'd up to Am) So it's never to late. I do about half and half open G and doubled dropped D. That's an easy change because all you have to do to go between the 2 is change the 5th string from G to A for double dropped D. Then licks are the same albeit at another place on neck.  But yea ime flies and after a few years I'm getting halfway decent anyway and it's fun! Get the best one you can afford. I saw a couple of Dobro brand round necks on web today for around 1500.00 used.

Sounds good. I really liked it. Only one thought on the video. She should be sitting out front if she's singing the song.    :cheers

I think he was putting that National front and centre. Enjoyed the sound of all!

I get that but I'd do the opposite. Always put the better looking one out front. No one cares about the guitar.   :whistling:

Thank goodness we will never see you in a video, except maybe peeking out from around a distant rock or tree.

Oh I whole heartedly agree! And we talked about it. The problem is that Angie's Guild is so loud! And she doesn't have a soft touch.
So without mic'ing seperatley it's unbalanced with her pounding rhythm (which works fine when balanced) overwhelms. Yea she got one of those 1-50 guitars of same model that just has it. Loud, very easy to play, jingly, jangly, bassy. and under a grand including good sounding pickup. But yea in perfect world she should be up front for a couple reasons. #1 because I distract from the music with my good looks. :)

That's alright. We love Duck and understand that he hasn't gotten over Olympic Curling and Hockey yet. Give him time. He's young. :)
