Guys,
I am preparing to upgrade by guitar and wanted to see if anyone will give me their feedback on the potential value of my D70. It of course also has the Horse Inlay. It was manufactured on August 17, 1993. Serial number is: 13581
Thoughts? Let me know.
Thanks Neil

Please post pics Neil.  Also describe wear and overall condition.  Buy it new?  Helps a whole lot.
George

Ill get some pics tonight. Yes, bought it new in Dec 1994 from a place in Minneapolis area. Its in very good shape, with exception of scratch on back.
thanks
Neil

Tell me where it is..... I'll buy it for $500. and throw in shipping.   :roll

Heck I don't know, a couple a grand may be a good start. I like that inlay a lot.

Hey Danny, I'm in the St Louis area. If you are interested my email is: neilstarrman@gmail.com
Thanks
Neil

Hey I'm in the Shreveport area.  You should not have much trouble moving this guitar, although for the life of me I cannot understand why you would.   :bgrin:   List it for what you would take for it...

There probably were not very many of these that were made?
George

Hey George. thanks Yes, I called Larrivee today to confirm that the D-70 was a limited edition. And they only manufactured it for a few years.  :nana_guitar

If you're looking to value it, I sold a J-70 not long ago for around $1,500.  Couple things to consider though, my J70 was more rare and was a more ornate guitar.  Also, the used market has nosedived in the last year.  Looking at the prices people are getting now, I feel really fortunate to have gotten the price I did.

I'm intrigued about what guitar an "upgrade" to your D70  guitar might be.
"Badges?  We don't need no stinkin' badges."

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.

:guitar

Unless you are desperate for the yenom I would keep it until the economy and guitar values improve.  You will not sell it for what is worth in the current market.

Me too. I'd be curious as to what he finds wanting in this guitar.

Truly appreciate everyone responding to this. To be honest, it is hard to find something that sounds the 'same" as my Larrivee. Being that I also have owned a number of Martin's, (D-18, D-28, and D-35), and really liked them, (especially my D-35 ,which was manufactured in the late 60's that I had purchased in college after I had migrated from my electric to an acoustic. (And so regret not having it anymore). But, back to the Larrivee. At this point, I plan to keep it especially after taking it in and playing it side by side with all the various acoustics I tried. I will probably buy a D-35 as my 2nd guitar.

Great decision. My 1975 D-35 and my 1975 Larrivee are my best guitars. I wouldn't part with either of them.   :cheers

Great Decision to keep the D70!  at least IMHO...

New strings work wonders. I've come close to selling a guitar once or twice, only to change my mind after new strings.

They actually made another D-70 around 2007 because I have one of those.  It was a D-60 with Rosewood binding, bronze engraved machine heads with Ivoroid buttons.  They were making 2 upgrade models of each of their models was the way I understood it so the D-60 upgraded was called a D-70 Custom.

Does it have a large sound hole?  I'm curious because I saw an old D70 ad and their selling point was the large sound hole.

I don't think so, it is basically a D-60 with upgrades.  I will try to attach a couple of pics.

Looks like a large sound hole to me.  If it was based off a D60 (also a large sound hole model) then it would make sense. I like the large sound hole Larrivees better so I consider it a positive thing.
