hey guys; do you folks plug right into the PA or acousyic amp...or do you use some kind of effect or DI/ thanks!

Hi johnr,

This has a lot to do with the source. If the guitar is an unloaded (no preamp) piezo pickup, then unless the amp was designed to work with this kind of pickup, things can sound pretty sad.

What kind of guitar - and more importantly... what kind of pickup do you have?

What kind of PA are you using?

 :+1:

So you know my LS10 and my Seagul S12 guitars have Bagg's active Ibeam which I run into he Baggs PARA out thru the direct out then into the PA.

hey guys'; I do have a 9 volt  battery in the preamp;it sounds good; but it seems evey acoustic guitarist I go see has some kinda preamp or box they are using.

This is a timely topic for me as well. In my open mic, most folks are able to simply DI to the to the system. Every now and again I get someone with a soundhole pickup and I can't get it adequate. This one gal in particular says she does fine "everywhere else she plays" but it hasn't worked in my brand new rig.

She ends up borrowing my guitar....LV-03 with the Fishman Ellipse blend, no pre amp or "box" necessary...that guitar consistently gets rave reviews for its sound through the system.

I use the active Ibeam from Baggs though it sounds good on its own it sounds better with the PARA pre-amp.Its the added controls of the treb, mids and bass.I have also used it the M1 both passive and active.

The Baggs PARA pre-amp is almost mandatory when I use my passive M-1 on any of my guitars;  regardless of the amp I choose to use.   I use the same pre-amp with  my K&K pure western mini which is in my 000-50.    It really helps dial in the sound you want whether you are going to a PA or your amp.

Tio, unless I'm mistaken that Fishman unit is in fact a preamp.  It's just not configured as an external box.

YES. Apologies, my own poor sentence structure. It being a pre-amp, nothing ADDITIONAL is needed. Works out real well from a plug n play standpoint (although the mic is all but useless)
