Sloped Shouldered 12 fret Dreads...

Well aware of Larrivee's offerings, but not crazy about the neck width.  Any experience with other builders??

Santa Cruz, Collings, Bourgeois, H&D, just to name a few - It's a popular design, and almost everyone has a take on it.

Sounds like you have something specific you're looking for, but without knowing what, hard to suggest anything more than the names of all the small shop builders -

In addition to Tadol's list add Goodall. I have played a Goodall (Spruce/EIR), and both Ditson 111 and 333 (Adi/'hog). Only briefly played an SD 50. All really rich deep and warm sounding, all wide at the nut. I played classicals all my life so the width feels natural to me. The type is modeled on the original Martin dread.

Which are still available in the D-18VS in Spruce over hog (Jim Holler has one in stock) and HD-28VS in spruce over rosewood. Their nuts are narrower than the SD Larrivees at 1 3/4".

And most of the companies listed will build whatever neck width you want. I really liked the SCGC one I played.

I believe my Bourgeois 'Alan Simpson' is a cutaway variation on the 12 fret slope D.  Believe my guitar is actually the very one listed at Dream Guitars under previously sold so you can follow the URL to see and hear.  For me it is one great guitar.  Love the sound and the feel, and of course, it is beautiful.  The 1 22/32 took very little getting used to.  I switch back and forth between it and my Martin 00017s which has a 1 3/4 low profile (my favorite).  I would recommend the configuration for anyone.  I play almost exclusively with a pick.  Very versatile guitar.

Had a 70's era Alverez come thru the shop 2 weeks ago.Slope dread with a slot headstock 12 fret neck joint.All lamenated but a nice guitar.

I don't like V necks so I asked for and received a quote for a 12 fret slot head rosewood dread (D-35S) through Martin's custom shop and added a bone nut and saddle, Waverly tuners and a sunburst top and was pleasantly surprised at the net price. I am also checking the price on a D-18S with the same specs except in mahogany with a two piece back. Both would have the same low profile 1&3/4 neck as my OM-35 which I love rather than the 1&7/8 neck when this guitar was in regular production.

I have a Martin CEO-5, a 12 fret, slop D with a highly figured bearclaw sitka top over Sapele B/S.  1 & 3/4" nut.  For the life of me, I'll never understand why they quit making this guitar.  Just a wonderful instrument, particularly at the price point Martin had this guitar at.  I think about 400 of them were made, but not sure about that.  If you can find one for sale, I would suggest jumping on it.  I think they were produced from about '02 through '05?

A Bourgeois slope in adi and mahogany is a beautiful thing! Very versatile, with a wide dynamic range.
