Am buying a Ls from LA Guitar, but having second thoughts when reading about the 00's. Am looking for a smaller bodied guitar but not really wanting to sacrifice volume or low end. I play primarily fingerstyle, don't use a pick. Anyone care to offer comparisons? Both guitars are hog.

I own an LS Forum III and two 00-50 Traditionals.  The LS has a bit more volume and is better for strumming (headroom).  The 00-50s  have a warmer, sweeter sound with a slight edge in the bass department;great for fingerpicking.  It might just be the difference between the italian spruce of the LS versus the sitka of the 00-50.  Maybe the Italian spruce needs more seasoning? I don't know but I much prefer the sound of the 00-50.

I purchased the LS (a 12 fret cutaway) in the hopes of having the same Traditional series sound (00-50) with access to more frets.  But the LS comes up a slight bit short; still good but not what I was looking for.

I wish Larrivee would make a long scale Traditional with a cutaway.

  Hope it helps.

I found the 00 to sound closer to the parlours.I had a 00-9Koa and a Koa parlour and i thought they sound very close in tone and responce.I have played a 00-10 up against my older LS10 and the LS is SOOOOO much fuller sounding in all respects.I have not played any of the newer LS03's that have come out so if thats what your looking for in comparison I can't help.I do find the older ones really comfy and keep up with all the guitars that I've played up against,so far a GAD JF30,my own Guild JF30,L01,C10Koa,my Gibson L7 archtop,a 62 Martin 0-18 and a bunch more.

Thanks for the responses. I figured the Ls would be closer to what it is I am looking for in a smaller bodied guitar. I am going to stick with my initial and look forward to my new Ls! It does not hurt to question. And this will be my only guitar for quite some time so it had to be right.

My LS Forum III is much fuller than the 00 Forum IV. But the F-IV is all Mahogany.  Still the LS is almost the same as an OM size, so it would have more in the same build parameters than a 00.

I think the LS will make you happy.

I have an LS-10 and an 00-50 TBS.  I much prefer the LS-10 for its sound and tone.  The 00-50 is fine for curling up with on the couch and playing, but I find I often overplay in an attempt to get more out of it.  That said though, I tell my son that he 00-50 is the one I'll take with me to the nursing hiome when the time comes.

Thanks for the responses...I am looking forward to the Ls's arrival...
