Here is a picture of my OM-03R and F-III side by side.

They sound different.  The F-III is more fundamental, and is a touch more resonant.  The OM-03R is a bit richer sounding with more overtones.
I prefer the 1 3/4" neck on the F-III to the 1 11/16" neck on the OM, but newer OMs also have a 1 3/4" neck.

I had a mahogany/spruce OM (F1) when my first F3 (hogtop cutaway) came in. They sounded so similar I decided to sell my F1. Then got a rosewood/IS F3.  Those two have the difference in tone that you describe. But the two mahogany guitars were very similar...despite the slight difference in body size and top woods....

I don't agree the forum's were conceived to be a cheap guitar or cheaper guitar.

Well, getting a custom model at the lowest price certainly was the goal when the first forum guitar was conceived. Any option that would drive up the price was discouraged. The low cost kind of became a theme as the other Forum guitars were developed.

I've been recently getting into larger guitars again after getting my J-185. I also feel a little gas developing for a J-200. So my vote goes to the jumbo.

Don't think that Larrivee will jump on the jumbo bandwagon, but they surprised me and built an LS. Never say never I guess.....

Just to throw it out there - some ideas I've had rolling around -

Deep body 00 with 1-13/16 nut and 2-1/4 saddle -

LV-05 12 fret with 1-13/16 nut and 2-1/4 saddle 24.9" scale -

BT-05 with 1-13/16 nut and 2-1/4 saddle and 28" scale -

or even D-05 12 fret 12 string -

Wish they had 1-13/16 on the SDs and as an option on the Ls and OMs -
Bunch of Larrivees - all good -
and a wife that still puts up with me, which is the best -

Deep Body 00 would be interesting, especially in Walnut or Rosewood.

As for the D-05 12 fret 12-string...

IMHO a L-05 12 fret 12-string would be a lot more interesting, especially a short scale.

Now my D-03R-12 is 1.898" at the nut and My Guild D-4-12 is 1.860.  I find that short scale instruments generally need an extra 1/16" of width to make up for the narrower fret spacing anyway.

So 1-7/8  to 1-29/32" would be just about right on the neck width.  If they would cut the nut for Guild type string spacing instead of Martin even better.

It seems like there is quite a bit of interest in a Jumbo. If we really want to bring back one of the older discontinued models, I think we should consider the LJ. It's has classic Jean Larrivee designed L body but with Jumbo dimensions.

Mods, can the option be added to this poll to allow people to change their vote?

I thought I had checked the  option to allow  votes to be changed when I set it up, it isn't there!

Those 2 twins.... one is a 12 fret and the other 14 fret, correct? Big dif there!

00DB Martins are nice! So I like the idea of a Larrivee 00DB .

But I like big guitars. Have have more dreads than I need. So the jumbo is ideal for me.

I clicked on the image and enlarged it. Yes it is bear claw spruce. I have $750 worth of prescription glasses that were supposed to be here already. My old trifocals are making things a bit fuzzy right now.   I think I need a haircut as well.

Now that's what I'm talking about!  I LOVE the old rosette too.  Dial that one up for the forum guitar as is!
But, maybe give some other chioics for top and back too.

Has anyone ever seen a all hog jumbo?  Would that be a bit too dark sounding?  Seems like alot of jumbos have maple backs.

Larrivee Mahogany Parlor-01 (unbound 2000)  "Mabelle"

Maybe it's time to do a new poll to get more accurage account.  I had wanted to switch my 000 vote to Jumbo.  Maybe others are there too.

I don't disagree

Twice I have posted a request to allow the 'change vote' option, but it seems impossible to retrofit.

The Gibson "Southerner Jumbo" was a maple back and side guitar. I think it was the first to be widely used in bands. It could be thumped on and give a little percussion to a group that didn't have a drummer. Country bands didn't use drummers because the fans wouldn't like it. But the SJ filled that gap.
And it happened to be a great player as well. So I think that's the tradition of making Jumbos maple.

I'm ending this poll and starting one that should be better at recording all the ideas. Feel free to transcribe your thoughts, everybody!

Mods, can this one be locked?
