Nah. At the end of the day, I'm just so glad Larrivée has none of this kind of thing.  :whistling:

Duck, I thought you were a 12 year old girl, and all this ducktrapper stuff was a macho pseudonym to fool us.   :arrow

My young son has a spongebob squarepants guitar.  It got him strumming.  Can't be a bad thing.  Makes people laugh when you play the intro to Stairway to Heaven on it too!

This is the exact model I bought for my daughter.  She is 11 and loves Taylor Swift.  I think it is pretty clever marketing on Taylor's part.  They may get girls playing guitar and if they stick with it, they may upgrade to the fancy Koa models that Ms. Swift plays.  For $299 it is same price as regular Baby Taylor.  It is sweet sounding with nice balance though not a lot of depth, and it is so easy to play!  I pick it up all the time and fiddle around with it.  Honestly, you don't even notice the design on the front after awhile.  Now if it was pink, it might be a different story!

When I dropped my 12 string off to have the tuners replaced they had one of these on the front of the rack so I picked it up and ran through a couple of tunes. It is a really nice guitar, sounds great for a travel size Taylor. Seriously these are nice guitars if you can get past the graphics. I was really pleased with the sound and the action, like all signature guitars I wouldn't want Taylor Swift across the front of any guitar but then again I have not considered any signature appropriate for me. If there is a budding young woman who likes the looks, she could do a whole lot worse than one of these.

If it's a nice guitar, it's even worse, in my opinion. She's bound to grow out of it and then what? Hope for a Taylor Swift revival when you try to resell? Heck, what ever happened to the enterprising young woman who would just pull out a sharpie and scrawl 'Emmylou' on her big Gibson?  :laughin:

If a kid has one of these and gets tired of the top they could send it to unclrob and have him belt sand it.

Duck,

Gotta agree with you there, but Taylor Swift appears to be a positive influence on young women and if it gets more girls playing, well I don't think it's all bad then.

Oh it's not TS that I have a problem with and I doubt it will accomplish that but I suppose it's possible. Why do I have the feeling that this is the guitar your dad buys you because he really doesn't know any better? Poor kid.

Guys I think JOJO123 has a valid point. Taylors are great guitars, but I dont think anyone would argue that we prefer Larrivees. Taylors have a very successful marketing strategy. You can draw parallels to the motorcycle industry (or could I am out of the game) The small bikes that learners used to buy were fitted with all sorts of bits and pieces, quite often they were sold at a very low profit margin, the idea was to entice the punters and instill brand loyalty. Could this be where Taylors are coming from. I seem to remember JCL quoted as saying he makes guitars for musicians and who can argue, he makes some of the finest instruments on the planet. I dont think you can question the integrity of JCL and his commitment to providing quality instruments to us first and foremost. As I remeber it was JCL who re introduced the cut away we all seem to take for granted these days and that was in response to the needs of a player. Dont seem to hear much about that. And why is the truss rod adjuster where it is? All thought out properly, good for JCL I like his style

God is Good
Larrivee L09, L05, L05 MT, P 09, OM 03 MT 12 string
Hofner Committe Thin 1962
Musicman Albert Lee (blue)
ditto in red but hard tail
Silhouette Special

Yes I'm sure it's just a super instrument and it merely has Taylor Swift scrawled across the front. And at no extra cost from the run of the mill baby T? How do they do it?
My conclusion is that some people take everything too seriously. If we can't laugh at this guitar, at least on this forum, life becomes awfully dull.

Not so sure about that. Part of the message to girls is "ugly girls need not apply".  Sounds like she's a hard worker and has some degree of talent but after watching a couple of live video's
my perhaps bent conclusion was that she's ok but not great. Who know's what machines they are applying to her voice, she can hire top notch musicians and has top PR people. But I seriously doubt she would have made it that big without her young fresh looks.
Will we ever see a woman who looks like Janis Joplin, make it big again? Allison Krouse isn't ugly, but when she established herself she was rather plain looking. Her voice is on a completely different level and doing megacircles around Taylor Swift. She made it because of her talent on it's own merit. To me THAT is a positive influence on girls a lot more than yet another good looker raised above thier deserved level by the music factory.

If some one does it without having the the looks and promotes success on talent alone, even better.
How many women have voice like this, but are never heard because of looks? She impresses me way more than Taylor Swift.

Agreed BUT lets not penalize SWIFT because she is young & pretty. She is what she is. We are attracted to beauty in all walks of life from musicians, actors and politicians. Let's face it,  it's a fact of life in this society. Don't think barrack OBAMA or sean CONNERY would be where they are  if they weren't blessed with good looks tho both talented in their fields as surely SWIFT is as well. Yes in all likelihood there are others with less beauty just as able in there Fields but not as succesful as one's we can mention, however the Masses rule.  :rolleye:

I don't want to penalize her because of looks. She certainly hasn't been penalized because of looks. It's just it's a shame that people without the looks get penalized because of the image related
factors that Swift represents to me.

This is not about Taylor Swift, who is obviously lovely and talented (and tall), it's about a butt ugly, stupid rip off, marketing device. Not blame, just general scoffery. Well deserved scoffery, in my opinion, but what do I know, I've only been involved with guitars for, gulp, 45 years? Say it ain't so!    :beer

Bet you have seen many fine guitars in 45 years!!! Guess you don't think this is one  :humour:

There are a few manufacturers that have the Marketing part of their Business Plan firing on all cylinders. I just hope Larrivee can survive without it as they don't seem to be following suit. Good or bad I don't know!!!!

I, for one, have huge respect for he who marches to a different drum. It's what I've loved about these guitars since 1975, when I first encountered one. Maybe you'd have to be a guitar player from that era to realize how different and special an L was (and is). There were Martins, Gibsons and maybe a few Guilds. JCL revolutionized this industry. Bob Taylor merely doodled on it.  :winkin:

:+1: :+1: :+1: We agree on that one. They were different and not just in looks. The bracing was a big deal when they hit the scene too. Not quickly accepted in states for sure.
