Great thread. Thanks for starting it!

I highly recommend J. Thomas Davis Guitars in Columbus, OH.  Always excellent results from these guys.  They know their stuff plain and simple.  Apart from the custom ordered guitars that Tom builds,  this is a repair and restoration shop only.   I'm always amazed at how good their set ups are.  Never used them for major repairs but word of mouth is very good.   Here's their website...

ps.  Per Uncl Robs remark about greasing the wheels,
They like pizza from The Pizza House on Lincoln Ave

Mike Lull's Guitar Works in Bellevue (Seattle Area) Washington.  Superb!

Had my Goya G-30 neck reset by   Glenn Harrison at California Vintage Guitars in Sherman Oaks. He just gave it back and it sings again!    :guitar  Glenn builds classical's, and he is an authorized Martin and Fender warranty guy.  Nice too. Wonderfully opinionated - too bad he doesn't know Larrivee's. I'm going to introduce him to mine. He'd fit right in here!

In the Milwaukee, Wis. area, I rely on a couple of different folks.

Joe at North Star Music, a little corner shop in Wauwatosa, does great work. North Star deals mostly student level instruments, but Joe's set up and repair work is second to none. That is why every guitar in the place plays like butter.

But the place I have the longest standing relationship with is Lincoln House of Music, which is a dealer of several major instrument lines. This is the place I got lessons when I was a kid -- a little corner store that employs some really sharp musicians and technicians. I went there more when I was living on the south side, but still reach out to them for some things even though it is a heck of a drive for me these days.

There are a couple good guys in Ottawa, ON Canada

Brian Dubbeldam at the Ottawa Folklore Centre has been my tech for nearly 20 years.

His former apprentice, Terry Calder, works out of the Long & McQuade in Ottawa.  I would trust him with my guitars as well.

For Richard III.   I don't have a suggestion in Manhattan, but you are a short trip from Staten Island and Mandolin Brothers on Forest Avenue where they might be able to do what you need.  I too have an OM-05 and if you can get to Ocean, New Jersey it will definitely be worth the trip to see Dave Petillo at 1206 Herbert Avenue, NJ.  I've been to a few luthiers and I will not let anyone but Dave touch my guitars.  Good luck.

For the Western Carolina and surrounding region, Randy Hughes of Fairview, NC is a highly respected and usually booked solid luthier.
His Phone number is 828-628-9777.

Glen at California Vintage Guitars in Sherman Oaks recently worked on my L-09, and has worked on others. He does great work. I trust him.
West LA Music is in West LA near Westwood. I have not dealt with them but hear good things, too.

Another great luthier/repair resource in the Seattle area.  andrewsguitars.com

In the Boston area I highly recommend Mark Herbert Guitar Works in Brookline for repairs. He's worked on several guitars for me and always done outstanding work. I've brought him an old Gibson and and old Guild, both of which he really brought back to life. He reattached the bridge on my Larrivee Forum 2 and did an absolutely beautiful job.

Looking for a good tech in the Northern Virginia/DC/Maryland area. Anyone?

Here is a link to an article about Freddie Cisneros in Prescott, Arizona. He sounds like a really good choice if you are out that way.
