I saw this topic on the UMGF and I thought it might be fun to pose the question; "How long have you ever gone GAS-Free"?  For me...I've gone 10 years!!!

Gas: 1980-1996

Gas-Free: 1997-2006

:whistling: Who could you possibly be referring to?  I have heard those tricones are pretty fun.

I use to gas like crazy, about once a week. That ended in 06.I get gas pains every now and then but haven't really acted on it.Until yesterday......a cool made in china Gretsch Electromatic come in and I couldn't help myself.I don't know what modal it is but its a single cutaway LP looking thing with a Bigsby and I remembered that I had to old Gibson P90 pickups sitting around and thought how cool they'd sound in this guitar so I picked it up and as they say the rest is history....OK I had to install a bridge in the pickup cavity so I could install the pickups so the history part will be Saturday.

I bought my Ovation 12 string in 1972. No more stringed instruments until my wife bought me a Takamine 6 string in for Father's day in 1999. Then nothing until 2008 when I bought two Larrivees and a mandolin. Followed by this year's purchase of a Forum guitar and an electric bass. So that makes six instruments since 1972 for an average of one instrument every six years. Gas free intervals of 27 and 9 years.

I have yet to experience the feeling of being GAS-Free, since my first encounter with guitars.

They say im full of GAS.  :roll

2008 Larrivee D-03R (Luna/K&K PWM)

Mine comes and goes based a lot on the looks of various guitars that I see on-line.  Were it not for the internet and forums, I think I'd be GAS free quite easily.  When I go out and play other guitars at music stores, I'm usually not impressed enough to want one.  I come home to what I have and often think it sounds better than the more expensive git I just played.  But when I see pictures of the beautiful luthier-built guitars, that's when I dream...

Right now I'm researching cheaper guitars for my 11 year old.  Five bills and under.  Maybe I'd be smart to stay $300.00 and under, actually.  But it makes looking at the Classifieds more fun thinking that I may actually buy one.

I'm thinkin hard about one of these. Larry's fault, wekk kinda. He got me thinking about it with post of old stratavarious. (sp?)
I borrowed one for about 3 weeks when working in Puerto Rico. Very cool. Luckily the a also rare and the only one I can find on net
is only like $250.00 Solid Spuce Top, Mahagany b/s. That's not usually what there are made with.   Puerto Rican Cuatro

I was GAS free from 1974 - 2007 ( with almost a gas attack around 94). But I didn't play for about 10 years off and on.

I have been GAS free from 2007 - present (due to home improvement projects, vacations, buying kids cars and on and on)

Been gas free for a whole month now.  I did mange to go a year and a half without a purchase ... does that count?

I just wish my 3 and 6 year old sons would be gas free for a day.  One fart and the house is in an uproar

No.  They just love it when someone farts and laugh their heads off imitating the sound.

Back to guitar gas, there is a "child's" guitar around that my oldest son picks up every so often ... Luckily, they can't even comprehend the concept of having more than one ...  ignorance is bliss sometimes.
