Well, with a good amount of encouragement from my lovely wife, I bought my first Larrivee this weekend.

I tried out the OM-50, OM-60, L-03, OMv-05 and a very nice satin Godin 5th Ave. archtop.

But ultimately, I came home with what I went in for: A beautiful honey-hued mahogany OM-50.

Question: Is anyone else's Larrivee case very snug? I have to apply a modest amount of pressure to ease it into the plush archtop case. Not a scary amount of pressure, but enough to be asking this question.

On the one hand, it's comforting knowing that my baby isn't rattling around in the case (which is heavy btw), but I wonder if it's supposed to be that snug?

I learned quite a bit skulking around the forums looking for info before making my purchase. Thanks to everyone who contributes. You earned some donuts.

Congratulation son the new guitar.  The OM-50 really appeals to me, I love my OM-03.  I reckon you made a wise move!!

congrats, my case was and continues to be like that(I always keep the guitar out)
Given time, it will loosen a bit.
cool guitar :thumbsup

Yes, the cases do tend to be snug.  You'll probably find that there's one right way to get the guitar in without snagging the case binding.  For me, that's to ease the tail-end in first (to get the heel strap pin under the edge of the case).

I appreciate the snug case.  If you want a looser fit, you can get an off-brand case for pretty cheap.  I have a standard OM-size case from Musicians Friend or somewhere that I sometimes use to take the OM out (got that for another guitar which has since been sold)

and hey - I'd love to see some pix of the new guitar!  You can insert pics once you get 10 posts

Mine is pretty snug as well, I give it a gentle nudge to get it in the case.  It's pretty comforting to know it's a perfect fit!

Good to see another Josh Ritter fan around here (I'm assuming...)

Congratulations on the new OM-50 and welcome to the Forum.

OM-50's are beautiful things.  Congratulations and welcome.  There's another thread around here about someone's case not being snug enough.  Of the two, I'd prefer the tighter fit. :donut :donut2 :coffee

I was telling my brother how nice and tight the case fit was on my Larrivee, and he told me a story about him and his friend going to Guitar Center a some 25 yrs ago to buy acoustics. His friend got a Martin and my brother got a Takamine. My brother was bragging about how much nicer the Takamine case was and pointed out that, with the tight fit, if you accidentally picked the case up unlatched the guitar wouldn't fall out and get damaged. His friend thought that was a ridiculous thing to brag about, and asked how anyone could ever forget to latch the case before picking it up. A few weeks later his friend picked his Martin up, forgetting that the latches weren't closed and the guitar fell out and was damaged. He told my brother he would never make fun of him again  :bgrin:

My L-03 Has such a tight fit the I have to put the endpin in first to avoid messing up the lining.
I have really enjoyed my Larrivees. Both are 03 series and I love the sound, feel, and the look.
Good choice.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. And I'm glad to hear that Larrivee cases just tend to run snug. I read that other thread from the member whose case ran too big. So, given the two options, I guess I'm good with snug.

To summariez some of the comments: I laughed at dragon1952's open case story.

Sumokids... Josh Ritter's music comprises at least 50% of my repertoire.

I'll post some pics soon. Thanks again.

If the guitar's a bit snug at first, just knock it in a few times with a 10 lb club hammer and it will soon loosen up.
