Forum 111 guitar

Hi am a new member. 
I am a left handed player and have been seeking out another guitar for awhile,but being left handed you can't try out the guitars that you would like to.
I have been following the forum for sometime now,and when you started talking about putting the forum 111 guitar together,it got my interest. 
I think it would be great to have a guitar put together,instead of buying a right handed guitar and having it reversed.(which is what I did)
I look forward in the next few days to deciding what guitar I will order.

Welcome IanC.      I have three lefty Larrivees.  All were bought without playing them first.  A fourth,  a forum III is on order.  Don't be overly concerned.....you won't be disapointed in a Larrivee forum III lefty.  (or any other Larrivee lefty for that matter.)  Jean Larrivee is left handed and he knows how important good quality left handed guitars are to us "wrong handers"

We have great expectations about the FG III.  You're also in good company here with Tuffy, Blue and others... all south paw.

My only thoughts were,
I  am thinking of ordering  an LSV 12 fret guitar.,but I don't think there has been one made before. I have my OM3,which I love,so I am thinking on taking the chance with the LSV

Ian: yes, options are limited for lefties, but there are some. I'm sure the forum guitar will be great, but make sure it's the one you want. Members have written at some length about the guitar, its specs, and some insight about who it will best serve.
At least three great manufacturers, Martin, Taylor, and, of course, Larrivee, make just about any model lefty. Availability and wait time can be a problem; but I've had good luck getting lefties right away with Guitar Adoptions and now there's Jerry's Lefty Guitars. I'll bet some members can recommend some of the other great retailers they patronize. I'm just a strummer, and I like big sounding guitars, so my Larrivees are a dread and an L, and while I like the idea of Italian spruce and a  wider neck, I'm passing on the Forum III. I imagine everyone on this forum will recommend Larrivee over Taylor and Martin. I do, too; but Taylor is a respected, innovative manufacturer and Martin is the industry standard. Enjoy the journey and enjoy the destination. It's fun to look for guitars.

Another welcome, Ian. Budget constraints have me passing on the Forum III, but it looks like a great guitar if you lean toward fingerstyle. If I had a few hundred dollars lying around, I'd probably jump on it, too.

Welcome to the forum, and go for it with the Forum III guitar.  I have an OM-03, and think the RW/IS LS-03 will compliment it very well.  I have a D-09 that doesn't get the play it deserves (hence now for sale), but I like the complexity of the RW.

Jump in, order one, I don't think you'll regret it.

Wow, a real steel string 1-3/4nut LSV-09. Not a Forum Guitar, but a real production model  very much like what we're ordering as a satin finish -03 series

To-day I went to a music store and checked out the 03 models,I was not keen on the Satin finish.  My OM-3 has a gloss finish,as do my other guitars,and I really like the gloss. I e-mailed Jim and asked him if there was any chance I could  get a Forum 111  in a gloss finish,but there was noway.
I think I will have to pass on the forum 111,and check out other options

I also prefer the glossy finish...but some elbow grease and some McGuires can provide an acceptable alternative. But you sure can't beat the look of a nice piece of mahogany under a perfect glossy finish.

Search on "Orsino" in the forum archives. Lots of discussion about buffing out satin finishes on Larrivees.

I was going to order the  I/S,left handed cutaway,with HB.  I could live without the cutaway and the HB,but I really like the gloss look.
Maybe another forum guitar will come along with the gloss option.

If you have an OM-03 with a gloss finish that would be a first. there were some trully glossed by Larrivee, but they were called -04's. Quite a few have received the orsinoizing process by an owner though. Its a bit of work, but very doable. Its not a true gloss finish though.

I bought my guitar from the 12th fret,in Toronto.a couple of years ago.It was a special order for them.It was right handed,so I had them convert it to left handed by putting a  new nut  on it for me,and a clear plastic pickguard.
I bought it brand new,so it was not redone by anybody else.
So I guess I have a special guitar.
Thats why when I saw the Satin finish to-day, on the L 3 ,I was spoiled with my gloss one.

Roger, I could not believe my eyes!    I wish I had known about this method before I sold my satin Walnut - Taylor 410e LTD.  Did you Orsinize?

That's what I'm going to do when I get my forum III LS-03MT.     Yours looks fantastic.  I don't mind a little elbow grease when the result is like that.   Darned near as nice as my 000-50MT which is the best mahogany finish I've seen.
A forum III LS-03MT with that hand rubbed gloss is going to be just awesome and I don't use that term loosely.   I may be bugging you on more specifics when I start rubbin' 'er out.

I must admit the polish job that Roger did,was amazing. You could not tell that it was originally  a satin finish.Although I give my cudo's to Roger for his work,I don't think I want to spend the money on a new guitar and try it.
