Just wondering if there is any way to figure out the year of manufacture? I would love to know.

Many thanks,

Lynda :bgrin:

Just e-mail Larrivee customer service with the serial number and they will tell you.

Eventually. Don't give up if you don't hear back. It took almost two weeks for mine and I emailed for another last week plus a warranty issue and still haven't heard. Gearing up for Christmas I guess.

I think Larrivee should just imprint the date of manufacture onto the back of the headstock. Just think how much time they would save. It seems like everybody who buys a guitar either calls or writes to get the date of manufacture of their baby. And this could occur for every owner....every time that guitar is sold. I bet they could have a full time person just looking up serial numbers of their guitars.

If they information was posted on the guitar...with all the money they save....they could reduce the cost of each guitar by $100!

I think I should get a bonus from Larrivee for providing a cost savings idea!!!  I'll just take a sunburst SD-50 in trade.

I'm still waiting. I'm getting a bit aggravated given one email is a warranty issue. I know I could call, but, if you ioffer email as an avenue of discussion, you should be able to answer it promptly.

I e-mailed about an issue over 2 weeks ago. After a few days e-mailed again thinking something happened to the first one. Nothing back. :whistling:
10-1614 more than a number, it's body and soul.

Yikes somebody posted a pretty in-depth review about his email experiences with the Larrivee customer service regarding a pickguard he purchased that did not fit i believe.  Anyways, i emailed them a few months ago regarding the date of my guitar and i received a response within two days i believe.  I'd have to agree with one of the previous posters and say they might be a little busy due to the upcoming holiday season.

Hey - seems like with all the Larry's we've (collectively) asked for manufacturing dates on, we could pool the results and come up with a rough-reference chart, such as

If your serial number is...   ...then your Larry was probably born on
  45xxx to 48xxx                19xx
  49xxx to 53xxx                20xx
and so on... (we'd fill in actual numbers based on the serial #'s and dates we knew for sure)

We could keep this as a sticky on the the Larrivee forum page

Anybody want to start with some data?  If you've emailed Larrivee and gotten the manufacture date, post the serial number and date and we'll see if we can't get this thing started!  (I can't, unfortunately, as I haven't asked for the dates of mine... dang)

I just sent the email so I guess I will see just how long it takes them to respond. I'm interested to know the answer though.

Why don't you go through your dealer? They should be the first line on getting warranty service...that's their job. They're the dealer.

prior to 10 years ago Larrivee was less concerned about serial number consistency. The last major instance of this that I am aware of is that the early 03 production had its own low number serial range.

With the Larrivee serial number being tied to the neck block, one finds that there are a few instances of (apparently) partly constructed guitars that 'sit around' within Larrivee Inc for a period of time before being completed and shipped out. So, serial number range does not always = year of manufacture.

At some point recently, there was probably a serial number range 'skipped' altogether. The reason I say this is that Matthew once said that the recent serial number guitar 100,000 was actually the 100,000th guitar, and that the company had made adjustments to the current ongoing use of serial numbers to take into account all the previous years of not using a unique serial numbering system. At least this is my understanding of the implications of what were said.

Not to pile it on or anything but I got a reply within two hours.  I then asked about purchasing an old style truss rod wrench and got a reply in minutes.   Did you p*ss them off or something?  :laughin:

I e-mail and call. They respond quickly all the time. I called a few days ago and could tell it was Wendy who answered (I know her voice) and I asked for Greg Warner, she put me on hold and Greg answered in a minute or so and we talked about a warranty matter and then he said he would get back to me with an answer. The next day an e-mail came with the answer.
I've had nothing but the best response from them everytime I've e-mailed or called. I also think it's pretty cool that when you call you have a Larrivee family member answer the phone sometimes. :winkin:
