Welcome Kitekook!!   :welcome:   Thanks for the donuts too!!!!    :donut  :donut2  :donut  :donut2

If I was starting out on my Larrivee search, I would most certainly look at the L series first.  They are a unique design and in many ways considerd the classic Larrivee model.

Personally, I wish I owned an "L" but my first Larrivee was, and still is, a D-03 and over the years I have owned several other models (OM-05, LS-10 etc.) but I long for an L.  The only thing holding me is cash.  I will someday make the move, probably sell my D-03 and by an L-03 (would love to find a blackwood of Koa version).

Anyway, the hunt for that right one that speaks to you is what it's all about.  Play as many as you can, trust your own judgement and taste and I promise you, it will be start of a beautiful relationship!!!

Welcome to the family!    :wave

One of each should do it! So many guitars, so little time.
Welcome, this is a great forum.

Welcome!

The L series is definitely what first attracted me to Larrivees. I love mine. But the harder you try to think your way out of this, the worse off you'll be. I'd just play as many different guitars as you are able and before you know it, one will speak to you and refuse to be ignored.

Welcome kitekook. Like I've been known to say and say and say ... the L is what really distinguishes Larrrivée from all other builders.

Welcome to the Forum!

I'm new to Larrivée guitars too and have a new OM-3R which replaced a Blueridge 000-163.  I haven't tried the L, but the Larrivée parlour guitars also seem to be exceptional - saving up for either one of those or a 00 now.  I find the neck/fretboard very comfortable and a similar feel to a classical guitar, which makes switching around easy.

Thanks for all the insight....The problem is they  are all sooooooo beautiful. :bgrin:

I would throw my vote toward the L series as others have said.   It is the Larrivee signature model.  All the different styles have their fans here.  You really can't go wrong.  Use common sense in choosing which is for you.  For example, if you do mostly heavy strumming with a pick then a parlor probably isn;t the right choice for you.  Another reason for going with the L.....it can handle just about anything you throw at it.  I have both the OM-03R and the L-10 and love them both for different reasons.  I'm soon to be receiving my third which will remain a secret until it has arrived.   (Watch for the unveiling in a future post)
The best advice, of course, is to play as many as you can and see which ones seem to be the best fit.

Welcome !  and happy hunting

Where one starts depends upon where one wants to go.  Are you playing in a group?  Are you playing on your couch?  What style do you play....well, you get the idea.
Each Larrivee model is suited for different things,  To begin you journey, you must define your destination.
OTOH...some say that the journey is more important than the destination, so you may just have to try them all :cheers

ditto, plus what kind of music you want to play

I wish I had access to all the models and varieties of wood before I made my purchase as there's a good chance I would have gone more for the 000-50 or 60 series (used as I couldn't cough up the money for a new one) I would be more comfortable with a 12 fret model. But, as the esteemed Walkerman said, it is the journey, and a journey of many delights.
If it sounds good, it is good.

Howdy and welcome, starting with a an 03 series L is a good choice. Rosewood is the main "recipe" larrivee uses and they do it very well, but you may want other tone wood. The search can be fun.     Danny

Hi and welcome. I'm a newbie too 'cause of my new L-05. I love the L bodies. Smaller than a D...bigger than an OM.  Good projection like a D body. COmfortable to play like an OM. I already have a dreadnaught so my next will be an OM. I'm eyeing a new OM-10 hungrily...

:+1: Even though I don't own one, I think the L series body size is a very versatile guitar!
It is kinda the signature of Larrivee guitars.
I went for the OM size first since I am a tiny guy. Went for the Dreadnaught second only because I got a good deal. I would definitely recommed the L series. The L looked too big on me but it sure sounds good!

The LS series are smaller L's and much smaller than dreads or OM's   A little more $ and a little harder to find.

Hello fellow newbie.  I just got a new D-09, my first Larrivee.  I went for the D because i am a bit of a beginner, and mostly strum and dabble in flat-picking.  I have been very surprised at how easy it is to play all styles on it, and late last night when the family were asleep I couldn't help but pick it up, and found basic fingerpicking (and I mean thumb and two fingers is about my limit!!) was so easy and smooth compared to other much cheaper dreads I have played before.  I am seriously impressed with the versitility and the amazing sound at even the lowest of volume.

Best of luck, and enjoy the forum, everyone has been really welcoming to me and seem like a genuinely decent group! :bgrin:
