Hi all,

I'm selling this beautiful instrument simply because I don't play it anymore due to my tastes running another direction these days, and it deserves to be played.  It was my first good guitar, and it shouldn't be wasted by sitting in a case.

It's a 1989 Larrivee L-10; I'm the original owner.  In all these years, it was played a lot at home, but only about 10 times in performance.
East Indian Rosewood (top quality) back and sides
Sitka Spruce, which has aged beautifully
     Honduran Mahogany neck
     African Ebony bridge and fingerboard
1 3/4" nut width - clear pick guard

I think that Larrivees were better back then (just my opinion, of course).  They have a more handmade look and feel.  This instrument plays like a dream.  I played a lot of fingerstyle on it, but I think that it would be a GREAT strummer.  Very balanced sound that just got better over the years.  I've taken SUPER good care of it; I can't find a single scratch on it.  About 5 years ago, Peter Yarrow declared it the most beautiful guitar he'd ever seen.  There is an LRBaggs IBeam installed that sounds good.  It is easily removed should you decide to put some other pickup in it.

If you like beautifully decorated guitars that aren't too over the top, you'll love this one.  LOTS of abalone, some sterling silver, beautiful seahorse on the headstock.  Pictures at:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/jennconducts/    (click on photos for larger size)

List price new is $3150 without the abalone decorations, about $4100 with.  Guitar Adoptions recently sold a very similar instrument for $3100.  My price is $2000 with OHSC.  Contact me at jennconducts@hotmail.com with any questions.

Thanks!

Jenn

Jenn - I had extra time this a.m. before work and I dug around for the history of this guitar based on the info in your post.  That was a great story about your special day with Peter, Paul and Mary.

As for myself, I have sold some things, especially instruments, that make me wonder WHAT I was thinking, and WHY did I ever do that.   :arrow   I call it 'sellers remorse".    I say, "You loved that thing  :guitar and now it's gone,"... and I don't even remember what I did with the $$$.

I'm sure you have thought about this and you know what you are doing, right? And if this sale is truly on, well good luck with it and for sure, someone is going to get a really nice guitar.  :niceguitar:

If you change your mind and want to someday trade the L for a C-10 just let me know!!!
Beautiful guitar!

Happily married to the woman of my dreams and looking forward to growing old together.<br />Truly,God has smiled upon this simple man.

She's a beauty. Similar to my 80'. Yea some folks think it's smug to say old ones were better. But even leaving sound out of equation, I think they definately look better. The headstock inlay and rosetta make a big difference to me. Mine also has inlay on bridge. There's something about not having the name on headstock that makes a staement.  Hope you get what it should be worth.
10-1614 more than a number, it's body and soul.

Thanks, CC, for your kind words.  It's great to read you!  I know that I coiuld very easily regret this sale someday, as she really is a great looker and sounder.  But I do feel very strongly that fine instruments have a kind of "soul" (cue Twilight Zone music!) and that is really is a shame if they are not played regularly.  It's going unplayed because I came across, fell in love with, and bought a 2004 guitar by a luthier that is local to me, Mike Baranik.  This is a very expensive, one of a kind guitar that just sounds PERFECT for my emerging fingerstyle career (it's Cocobolo Rosewood and Cedar.)  I also have been somewhat affiliated with Martin, through a professional relationship with Laurence Juber, and they sold me a LJ model at next to nothing.  While I'm not generally a fan of contemporary Martin sound, the LJ is very special and feels great in my hands.  So the Larry needs a person to play it and love it!  I stay in touch with PP&M and Paul Prestopino, and we're meeting up again soon, in Santa Barbara.

By the way, to sweeten the deal, I'm thinking of throwing in my Fishman Aura pedal, which I also don't use.  It has some good sounds with the Larry/IBeam combo.  So if you know of anyone looking for a great guitar, please let them know!

Also by the way, I still have an old beat up L-09, so I'm still a Larrivee fan, and you'll see me around here now and then!

Very best wishes,
Jenn

Thank you for that resolution Jenn,... and good luck. I'm a lefty prowling this forum for a larrivee as I've been through Taylors and Martins. I am looking for something new. Otherwise. I'd buy it just because of the special spirit which so many guitars, sadly, go through life without. I was the owner of a left handed Juber for a brief while. I still get tears in my eyes recalling that piano-like tone. I have never heard anything like it. I didn't have the requisite fingerstyle skills. I paniced over the string spacing and v-neck shape. My fret hand could not cover the distances. That is one of my sellers remorse examples. I should have pushed on through my boundries and self-doubt. Imagine where I would be today.

You shouldn't have to wait too long for a lefty Larrivee to appear for sale here.   Just watch the postings by Bhika.  He's bound to have another one up for sale soon. :humour:  (just kidding Jeff, you know I get the next one)

Anyway, welcome to the forum and here's a little left handed guitar mojo to bring you luck in your search...

Hi Jenn,

What an instrument. Where are you located? I'm wondering whether I might have an opportunity to try it out.

Thanks,
Merle
