Martin SP000-16R

Anyone know the difference between a Martin SP000-16R and a 16TR ?    Unless I am missing something I cannot figure out what the T stands for.

When I bought my Martin SPD-16T in '96, the T stood for Technology and had to do with the new mortise and tenon neck joint. By about '99 the T designation was no longer used.

 I have owned several martins in the past and emailed Martin Customer Service that same question and they replied that the T stood for Technology. Something about the mortise and tenon/a frame construction when these replaced the dovetailed 16 series.

Thanks for the replies. It makes sense now. My SP000-16R was made in 98 so the T has been dropped, I can expect a dovetail joint. Thanks guys

No, you have a mortise and tenon joint. By '98 the m&t technology was tried and true and well-integrated in the Martin line so the "T" designation was dropped.

Thanks again Beel. I got it straight now. I assume you have been happy with yours? The SP000-16 is replacing my Martin 00-18V. I think I just cant get used to the V stlyle neck.

Oh, yeah, I love my SPD-16T. It's staying with me as long as the lifetime warranty is valid. -- I wish I could get my hands on another SP model. Martin did a great job on those guitars. I tried to buy a couple of different small bodied ones but couldn't get the price I wanted to pay.

It's too bad you can't get used to that modified V on the 00-18V. I'm looking for a 00 and I'd like mahogany but I worry about the neck because I read about people not liking that neck profile. I tried one in a store, briefly, and thought it wouldn't be a problem but I guess you never know how it's going to work out until you've lived with one for awhile. If it's for sale somewhere, point me to it.

You know, I tried several in the store, including a 000-28, a Clapton model an OM-28v and I really like the 00-18V the most. Just one of those things I guess. I am going to wait until my SP-000 arrives and try a side by side by side with my OMV-50 Larrivee and see how it feels.  I do like the short scale but if it does not still feel right then its going up for sale for $1500, give or take.
