I don't recall saying, nor did I intend to imply, that Uncle Bob invented Fishman, the "L" body, Velcro, or the pasteurization process...though some of your points are moot (high-end Taylors now use the proprietary Expression System, not the Fishman system; the question of which company actually pioneered the "small-body" steel-string guitar, etc.) I simply offered my opinion that Taylor have played an important part in adopting and popularizing innovations and getting them to the consumer.

Precisely my point. I never intended to credit Taylor with inventing such items as mentioned above, just for adopting them and taking the lead in getting these innovations into our hands. Their leadership has led other, more traditional makers to become more consumer/player-oriented or to disappear. The results, I believe, have been a boon to the players.

I'll claim ignorance on this issue, as I am not privvy to the itemized production costs relative to guitar-making. Do you have some of these numbers to share? I'd love to see them; I'll bet they're fascinating. And do you actually know how much of these cost savings to which you refer are passed along to the consumer vs. retained as company profits? I'm in the dark on that matter, too. Please advise.

There are two points here that merit response:
(1)  "Taylor have" is perfectly common English usage of the collective noun. That usage (Ford have, the administration have, the Beatles have, etc.) is standard in Britain and throughout much of the English-speaking world. However, I DO freely admit that I make errors in spelling, syntax, and grammar. That's just not one of them.  And I do proofread my posts, and I spend remarkably little time "needling others." There's far too much other stuff to do than to spend undue time on those little games ...
(2) I don't feel that I have engaged in any name-calling; and I would never attack your character or maturity. Feel free to lighten up.

Mike
I really do agree with you but some heated yet enjoyable mudslinging is fun as long as it doesn't get personal, but sometimes we go overboard. But what a great hoot. It's always good to be loyal to a brand or in my case really disliking a brand but its all in good fun.  :P

I quote:

>I have no idea what you're trying to say. Run that by me
>again, please. Its overprice WHAT; and what's
>"singlular?""

and again:

>I suppose we're quite different then, Tarzan.

It just pisses me off when people come on these forums with a holier-than-thou attitude, and attack not only the opinions of others but needlessly belittle others' spelling and grammatical errors.  Is that really helpful, Wiley?  So yes, I do think you spend time "needling others," and you do engage in name-calling, and finally, those actions do speak upon your character and maturity.

My sentiments agree with those of many others on this thread; namely, Taylor and Larrivee both build great guitars worth owning.  Talk of the relative merits of both is enlightening and entertaining, but Wiley, it is most unfortunate when you start disparaging others for their opinions by pointing out all their typing mistakes.  Don't expect others to "lighten up."  You're the one that bought it to this level.

OK enough name calling friends. This suppose to be a place to xchange idea's,thoughts and felings. In some cases desire ;) Please no more insults and such. Can't we all just get a long. B)
