I like a nice lawn and dislike dandelions and I HATE "No Mow May"! If you have to put a sign up so that people will know you're special and not just lazy, there's something terribly wrong with your thinking. And, by the way, if your dandelions go to seed they are not feeding anything. I had a neighbor ask me what I was doing the other day. I was out with my trusty stick popping them. After several sarcastic responses went through my mind, I said, "Lawn care." He advised me that I should leave them because the bees need them. OMG. Drive down any country road or any city street, for that matter. There is no shortage of the things. Are bees too stupid to find them? Besides, we have flowering trees and shrubs and my wife has hanging baskets etc. If the beepocalypse is real, and frankly I  have my doubts, it sure has nothing to do with a shortage of dandelions. By the way, they are not native to North America. What the heck did bees do years before colonists brought them? They are pernicious and if let go will take over. Galderned Triffids! Rant over.

I like the leaves in salid with some vinigar and oil.
Bee's and I don't get along at all.

I also have neighbors who give free and unasked for lawn care advice.  I've noticed that most of the time their own lawns look like a mess, while mine is always pretty nice. Go figure.

Yeah, I have to admit, that annoyed me. Mostly, however, passersby compliment us on the look of our yard and house. We are having a bit of work reclaiming since the last owners, apparently, let everything go. They only had the place a year, fortunately.

It is amazing how bad a lawn can get with just one year of neglect.  Fortunately I love lawn care and it has become a type of therapy for me.  It's great for listening to a podcast and using the time to learn while beautifying my place.

Well, it should be obvious to people that anything pernicious that is allowed to flourish will just get a lot worse. Look at the "homeless" situation in LA. Now the cure will be much harder than simply enforcing existing rules and stopping people from squatting (and worse) in the streets in the first place. Now city authorities will look like virtual Nazis if they try to eliminate the problem. So they won't.
As for dandelions, I spent two months last summer in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ontario has banned most substances that actually work to prevent weeds and the city has apparently just given up. Every park, most lawns, boulevards or terraces are just totally covered in yellow and they grow big. I started calling it the Dandelion Kingdom. Getting back to square one will be nearly impossible.
