Tonight, I did my first performance since before COVID. Also my first performance in the US as a legal resident. I was super rusty and since we've spent the last few weeks moving also out of practice. It seemed to go well, however, as they asked me back in March. Oddly enough, I played my Martin D-35 and my Yamaha NTX900FM. Not a Larrivee in sight. That's a first for me, as well. With no time to prepare, I had to use the guitars that were ready to go. We've been packing and moving for the last month and I've had zero time to rehearse, practice or get my rig together. It was really just winging it but, to my surprise, although I was my worst critic, everyone seemed to like what I delivered. I'm going to kill when I return on the 18th of March.  :nana_guitar

Glad to hear this! Now get the Larrivees up to speed, will ya!?

Good to hear, Duck.  And welcome to the U.S. of A as a resident.  I'm sure it was the good fortune of the audience to get to hear you play.

Welcome and Congrats on your legal immigration Duck.   Of course it would have been a breeze with bennies had you walked over from the South.

Thanks. The funny thing is everyone I speak to, Dem, Rep or Ind, makes the same joke. I don't find it very funny. You can't imagine the hoops I had to jump through. I've come to the conclusion that US immigration law is only enforced on those willing to obey it.  :?

The US takes in approximately 1 million legal immigrants annually who follow the immigration laws. Though I can't speak to the difficulties of the process of immigration I will say there is a pride and integrity of adhering to the law and doing things right.  Unfortunately today in this country we are watching that process slowly disintegrate.  So good on you ducktrapper you did it right!   Welcome, I'm proud to call you a fellow American.
Good for you

Well, although I was happy to follow the rules, many of which make no sense, it's frustrating when you realize that millions won't and will likely face no consequences for ignoring them. Since I have family and friends in Canada, I want to be able to go back and forth without fear of consequences. I suppose most illegals have no intention of leaving ever. By the way, I'm not a fellow American yet just a resident alien.  :cheers

That's correct. Call me .... T.

I recall some joke by Jack Handey on Saturday night live about illegal aliens including the line, "What's wrong, no jobs on Mars??"   :bgrin:

Welcome to the US Ducktrapper.  Well done following the frustrating rules, but you did it the right way.   :thumb
