ST, what's the neck like on that Gibson nylon? The fingerboard looks flat and wide much as I would expect on a nylon string guitar. Or is it more of a hybrid?

The neck is 2" at the nut, flat across the fretboard.

There is a different model, the Gibson Chet Atkins CE that looks the same but with a slightly narrower neck.   Mine is the CEC.

You can't see it in the pictures, but the body depth is 2" with a comfortable bevel on the back.

^^^ Mega-dittos to this! ^^^

All the evidence is starting to shift in the direction of a whole lot more people have already been exposed/infected, yet in many cases never showed symptoms or barely got sick from it. I hope we learn a major lesson from this...

As in "never let a crisis go to waste"?  :crying:

Niel sounds real good.

Me and mine still getting along well. She's gotten use to the belt sander, drill and me wondering why someone did some thing to that poor guitar or the next time i prick my finger trying to undo someone who should not be allowed to string a guitar while she doing her work on the computer across from.
Getting some work in mask on when they come and go.

Thanks, Rob. I thought I killed the thread. I know I'm blabby. How about some pictures?

I'm keeping safe and occupied...

I'm still tinkering on this thing. I just glued on the back binding/purfling and am moving on to finishing up the neck:

I see I haven't been here in a year so around the house I did a bathroom update - well, everything but the tub and surround; that's beyond my physical abilities:

Last July I turned 50 so my wife took me and our 13yo son to Lake Tahoe where I visited with some family:

I feel you on using the sander though. It's impossible to find new filters for my breath mask and my eyes are crapping out on me so I need to find better safety goggles. Sanding rosewood is NO fun when every time you cough EVERYONE is paranoid. I've also kicked off #3 so I'm trying to make use of blades and scrapers instead. I've been working on my technique and loving working with walnut.

So it's the 'classic' classical neck.
I've never seen either one (a CEC like yours or the CE) in a shop.
I'm glad that you have been able to continue performing. And I'm sure your audience is too. Keep up the good work.

This is #'s 2 and 3, Rob. I'm trying to apply lessons learned as quickly as possible the next time around. I started #2 about 8 years ago and have forgotten all the mistakes I'd made - so I repeated them.

As for the bathroom, it's amazing how much is on YouTube. I already knew how to paint from being in the Navy and install plumbing from having to fish toys out. In a way my kids motivated me to learn.

The flooring though - that was tough, even for 50 square feet. That little half wall and toilet flange complicated things but I'm patting myself on the back for not quitting. Using a wet saw was a real PITA though - and mixing mortar is as hard as baking a cake to me.

Ducktrapper and Mikeymac,

Why do so many people with a keyboard feel  the need to announce their political opinions to everyone else? Why do these same people seem to always attempt to create controversy where none is needed? The question is, "How are you doing?" The question is not, "What is your political views concerning Federal, State, or local initiatives. I come to this forum because I appreciate others who have a love for Larrivee guitars, not to experience your inconsideration for the many possible opinions or experiences that may exist related the pandemic. Please return to discussing guitars!

Thank you.  I wish the nay sayers would congregate in a closed arena and share discharges with each other for a few weeks.  There'd be a lot less stupidity spewed...  and a lot less disease spread.

And those of us still living could discuss guitars without science deniers.

Have a good night all...

Ed

Thanks, Queequeg.

It looks like the Gibson Classical Electric guitars were made from 1981 to 2005. Mine was built in October 2005.

The ones with the 1 13/16 nut width had a rosewood fingerboard. The wider CEC models (like mine) have an ebony fretboard.

I found some pictures online that show a little more detail.

You can see how slim it is, making it very comfortable to play (for someone who plays electric guitar most of the time)

Separate Treble and Bass controls on later models only

Body and neck are mahogany with a comfortable body contour

I have the Epiphone version.

I expressed no political views, at least, no more than you just have. Show me where I did. How am I doing? I'm a bit pi$$ed. You're assuming my political stance and, using the same metrics, I believe I can assume yours. I merely expressed my opinion and then made an observation in response to Mike. If you don't like my opinions there's a remedy. Have a nice day.

Ducktrapper,

I originally responded to your last post, but I am rewriting this post because I realized that it doesn't really matter to me what you broadcast to the world. This forum is a wealth of knowledge, a wonderful community, and an overall respectful and polite group. I hope that it stays that way.

BTW - I enjoy your videos and music.

I'm spending a lot of time on Skype and Zoom with my family (some of them are in voluntary lock-down).

My sister sent me a link to this video. No introduction, no explanation.
