An original tune I wrote over the last couple days. 000-60 and me recorded with just a Sony Handycam.

GA-ME that's great. Catchy tune, could have gone on longer. That's one of my dream guitars you're playing there. Slothead, 12 fret. How wide is the nut?
If it sounds good, it is good.

Really cool tune Jonathan, it's got a kind of reggae vibe to it which is really cool - kind of put me in mind of 'no woman no cry' the way the melody bounces along.  Absolutely brilliant.  Is this one going to make the CD, or do you have all of them written already?

Man that's a nice tune, and performed with much feeling.

Became a Shooting Star when I got my 1st guitar.
Back in '66, I was 13 and that was my fix.
Still shooting for stardom after all this time.
If I never make it, I'll still be fine.

Dig it, love the feelin'!

Bearsville, thanks for the listen! The 000-60 has a 1 13/16" nut and she has been playing really well the last few days. I think its the Autumn weather!

Ben, I wouldn't have though No Woman No Cry, but after you wrote that I got to thinking that there is actually a very similar way I attack the guitar when I play that Bob song. Whether this song ends up getting recorded will largely depend on what the other fellows think of the song. If they really like it they will come up with great parts quickly and who knows, perhaps it will end up good enough to record well and proper!

Thanks for giving it a listen, Kurt, Blue and Roger. I think making up songs is just about as much fun as a person can have with a guitar...

Nice nice. Interesting style with the higher fingersstrummin down while thumb and 1st pic I kinda do that but not with the consistant strum. I think I'll play with that. Your guitar is darkening up nicely. :) I got 3 songsrecorded so far this weekend. Have about 6 more at least to get caughten start on Angie's and my stuff, some of which are originals too. Yep writing is good.

Matt, I'm glad that you are in a good writing spell!. Making up songs is just about the most fun you can have with clothing still on!! I got lucky with this tune because the little vibrato "D" riff had been one of those little things you start to do when doing soundchecks. You know, just trying to think of little things to play while the sound guy is getting levels set and stuff. The picking style just sorta grew out of trying get the sounds I have in my noodle translated onto the guitar. I have to pick that way for, this one, to get the syncopation correct leading off the the A form into the B-minor form. I sat down on a Sat evening and in about 15 minutes had the whole song. The melody, chord patterns, and lyrics just sorta came out all at once. I spent a little time on Sunday morning getting some last minute phrasing worked out and then camcorded it so I wouldn't forget what I was doing. I am going to double the little solo section length though. I am going to take a Strat into a Boogie and take the solo section that is there, all 11 seconds or so, then I am having my tenor guitar player rip with his telecaster into a little jacked up 5 watt Fender tube amp.

Sounds like how I usually write. I just posted 3 new songs. I spent less that an hour on writing each of them. Of course the music is very simple. I used to try to force my self to create more complex chord changes like every other song, when I was younger. Now I pretty much serves the words which flow better for me with simple melodies. I do try to mix styles and try to make up for simplicity with emotion and good picking within simple context.  I got a nice 2 chan tube preamp compressor that I used for the first time on these 3 new songs. I had only a single channel before. Now I can run thru it stereo for mixing down. It made a good difference but I think itll get better as I learn it. Also made a couple of mistakes with new mic. It's good but bassy. thought it sounded good in front of sound whole but when I when to mix, too bassy. Had to eq and also use the other mic that was on guitar to the side more. I'm early morning rambling but anyway good preamp is great help. Of course 1500.00 for 2 chans. But with my old one as well I've got 3 now. Best thing you can have for recording. Keep writing!

Matt what tube preamp did you get??

Very nice GA-ME. Great combination of swinging groove on guitar with melodic line on the voice. Thanks for posting, Bruno.  :donut :donut :donut2 :coffee

Thanks, Bruno! I'll also chime in and repeat what ST posted  in your Cocaine Blues thread and say I really enjoyed your Just Like A Woman performance!

Oh, just saw this. It's a "C-1 Dual Valve Compressor" Made by TL Audio. They are made in England. I have a single chan one as well that I've had probably 10 years.
