Hello everyone. I decided to join up here last night because I just love my Larrivee. And this forum, since I looked at it last night, has given me major GAS for a P-05MT. I've wanted a P-05 for a long time, but that GOTM on the front page made the GAS even worse.

I own an L-03, my first "real" guitar. I wanted to get a good, all solid wood acoustic guitar since I had a really crappy all laminate classical and a 1962 Harmony Archtone. I went to a guitar store in Phoenix, Az, which stocks a great number of left handed guitars, and I tried out about 15 all solid wood acoustics. I played two different L-03's, a D-03, an OM-03, a couple Guilds, some Martins and some Taylors. My limit for spending was $1300 and the Larrivee won out against all the rest. I went back to the store once a week for about nine months and played it until I could afford it. The guys at the store gave me a stellar deal, WAY below what I was willing to pay. I've been in love with it since.

Anywho, here's a shot of the lovely lady. It's good to be here and I look forward to discussing these fine instruments.

Oh, and I guess I have to post some donuts?  :bgrin:

Welcome to the forum.    You chose a great guitar.  I'm sure you will enjoy it for a long time.    We can always use another voice from the lefty world.
Glad you got the donut thing out of the way before someone had to prod you into it !

Glad to have you here.   Look forward to your thoughts

Hey Blake - welcome to the forum. That new, first "real" guitar (as you put it) will always be special.  And those donuts look delicious!

What was your previous acoustic?

Welcome to the forum Lefty, that's a beautiful guitar you got there. That's some nice Sitka.

Thanks for the donuts!

This pickguard is on backwards!  :winkin:

Thanks for the kind words everyone. This guitar is a real keeper. The top on her is incredible. The back has some nice figuring as well.

She does have one blemish. I accidentally bumped her into the sharp corner of my desk and put a nice size crack in the lower bout on the side. I almost threw up when I did. Made me sick to my stomach. I had a good luthier in Phoenix fix her up. She still looks banged up on the outside, but I didn't want to spend the money to have it sanded down and refinished. He put a piece of plexi glass on the inside of the crack and it hasn't budged in three years.

Looks like a love mark.

You could call it that  :bgrin: I look at guitars as tools, and while I take good care of my instruments, banging them up is inevitable. For being only three years old, she shows some wear. Lots of buckle rash already, a couple nicks on the binding and a few dents here and there. That's okay with me though. It gets used and makes me happy.

Hey Blake - welcome to the forum. That new, first "real" guitar (as you put it) will always be special.  And those donuts look delicious!

What was your previous acoustic?

My previous acoustic was an all laminate, 1970's Hofner classical. For being all laminate, it was a TERRIFIC sounding classical. However, the neck was so bowed that it was almost beyond repair. I wasn't looking to spend the several hundred bucks on having the neck reset, pressed and refretted, since I only spent about $40 on the guitar. I ended up getting rid of it after some bad cracks developed on the top and the top sunk in. My other acoustic was a 1963 Harmony Archtone. I always wanted an old archtop, and I scored that one on Craigslist many years ago for $150. It had been refretted, had Grovers added, neck rest and a new bone nut. I ended up selling that too because it just sounded terrible. The only thing I really like (apart from the looks) was the monstrous neck on it. I wish I would've taken some dimensions from that neck so I could have a future neck built to those specs.
