Putting aside the discussion of whether or not you should oil/condition your fretboard....for those of you whom do so, what do you use?

For years, I used olive oil.  People used to laugh at me.  Recently, I was talking to our areas leading guitar tech, and asked him what should I use.....he suggested walnut oil or....OLIVE OIL......yes.

Been using Bore Oil since the 80's  :beer

Problem with Olive Oil is always a possibility of it  becoming rancid. Everyone who knows and many who have no idea have there own idea of what is best.

Would it be correct to surmise that bore dr and fret dr are the same thing, just in different sized bottles?

I used Hawes Lemon oil for years....but recently started using nothing....because i have become more careful with humidity control my boards aren't really drying out...also i wash my hands alot and try not to spill beer and pizza on my guitars..... :roll :cheers

pre boiled lynnseed oil but only if I have had to 0000 steel wool the fingerboard, then wipe on count to 10 wipe off.At most I do this once every couple of years to my own guitars if that,I tend to wipe down my guitar neck, fingerboard and strings after every use.I also use it after a fret dressing.

Just a tiny dab of cabinetmakers paste wax, buffed in with 0000 steel wool. Once a year or so -

:+1:  Served me well for over 25 years at this point.  Granted, my current longest owned guitar has only been with me for about 11 years.

I used to do some tech for other local players and when they wanted their board oiled, I using a very light application of mineral oil; cheap and easy.  Lemon oil is usually just mineral oil w/ some solvents and fragrance so why pay extra for that?

The idea of olive oil decomposing on my fretboard and becoming rancid doesn't really sit too well with me.

Clean with steel wool, apply thin coat of Tru-oil (gunstock oil) wipe dry and lightly re-buff with 0000 steel after application. Tru-oil is more of a finish and dries very hard. Once every couple years is more than enough.

You could go in threesies with a couple friends to cut the overall cost.

I have a bottle of Lizard Spit that I think I bought at Elderly's way back in the day.  Unless you are a luthier and doing daily fretboard conditioning, this stuff will last forever.  Works as a cleaner and conditioner.  Elderly still sells it:

Sorry Steve missed this for some reason - I donno I posted that reference only because of the Bore Oil reference and it's discussions of other options. One thing for sure is the site is looking to sell its Bore Oil. My recommendation is to go to any half-decent wind instrument shop and get the oil there. I picked mine up in Toronto in the 80's  :doh
